Speaker Wire Gauge?

    Is that like saying it's best to use rusty old galvanized plumbing if I use a vintage faucet on my sink? ;)

    I'm planning on trying some OFC 10 gauge speaker wire soon...not a name brand, but curious to see how it does. (Monster has 11 gauge wire that costs more than twice as much.) Has to be better than typical 16 gauge "speaker wire".

    I was talking about cable for vintage amps, not audiophile cable across the board for modern application.

    I know where you're coming from, Prix. It's really system dependant.

    I use Kimber 8TC cables. They are on the bright side but I don't want to sacrifice detail in the music. My original Monster Cable sounds too close to lamp cord for my tastes. I've tried Cat. 5 cables but they were too bright for my system.

    You'll really have to experiment.
