As both, I can assure you that if I like something enough from the stream, I buy myself a physical copy. As in "Holy ****, this Black Midi album is as good as everyone says, I'm picking it up next time I'm in Newbury Comics."

That's why streaming is not an either/or.

 

My late purchases in classic heavy metal and hard rock happened after I joined this forum and tried it out on youtube and my danish ISPs version of streaming. Since then I've bought more CDs in total than in the years 2000-2017.

The few shops that Copenhagen do have seem to be second hand or at least they're not in my backyard like they used to be, so I bought everything on Amazon.co.uk or Discogs.

Just like you can use Netflix, and buy Blu-rays too. Stream to discover new/new-to-you movies you haven't seen before, and then purchase your favorites on physical media, in the best possible quality, stacked with bonus features, and the like.

I totally get that some people here are format purists, but come on, it's so reasonable and convenient.

 

You can also upload your own music to Google Play Music with the free Google account and stream it through their app. I think there is a 50,000 song limit.
