What I'm hearing is y'all are sleepin' on some fun animated Star Wars content. Clone Wars and Rebels are both fabulous shows, and although there's a bit of filler as these shows started before more recent 15-or-less-episodes trends, it's good watchin.
Once Rebels hits it stride I think it's superb with very little filler. The Clone Wars has a great deal if filler, like four episode story arcs about droids or some kids that no-one cares about. Rebels is almost all about the main cast and their journey which makes it more satisfying even though it doesn't have all the well known SW cast. I would say the best SW stuff I have seen since the prequels is the last four episodes of the Clone Wars (which tied in sublimely with Order 66) and some of the Rebels episodes, for example Twilight of the Apprentice. Certainly agree people are missing out not watching these as they are easily better than the very underwhelming live action tv shows and the really poor last film trilogy.
Spoiler: Spoiler I love the several-episode story in Clone Wars about Obi Wan going under cover through a dramatic facial reconstruction procedure, which was so hardcore that it even entailed staging his own death. Amazingly, Anakin wasn't let in on the plan, which I think provides some much needed background to his fall to the dark side. It also really underscores the Jedi's wining the war at any cost strategy, which also sowed the seeds of distrust in Anakin. Cad Bane is also killer in those episodes.
Whoa, I had no idea that Boba Fett did so well in the ratings... ‘Book Of Boba Fett’ Finale Viewership 36% Higher Than ‘Mandalorian’ S2 Finale – Deadline
Turning Book of Boba Fett into The Mandalorian Season 2.5 for the last 3 episodes is what saved this series for me. It would never have occurred to me 40 years ago that Boba would be so uncharismatic and boring as this. Like Vader he should never have taken his mask off.
I don't understand what happened there. Do you think the producers watched the first few episodes and thought it was so bad the only way to rescue it was to chuck some Mandolorian episodes/scenes at the end. it's like two different shows.
I found the first 3 episodes to be incoherent nonsense, so I bailed on it. Since then I've heard that it has improved, although largely because it basically became The Mandalorian in disguise?
I am the opposite. I enjoyed the first few episodes, and then got annoyed by the return of Din Djarin and Grogu.
Yeah, I wouldn’t have mined a brief Mandalorian cameo but that’s it. As it stands ep. 2 is my favorite from the series - really great stuff.
I feel that the last few episodes were just Mandalorian fanservice and otherwise unnecessary for Boba Fett. It's how the next season Mandalorian should've started. It's as if the Boba Fett series can't quite stand on its own. Regards, Dave
Because he obviously can’t. They’ve taken a ruthless bounty hunter and castrated him. Zero charisma and not even remotely likeable or relatable.
I was never a big fan of Fett the character, even when he was bad@ss. While surviving the sarlacc may have changed his perspective on life, I think they took it a little too far. I don't believe he could command enough respect to run Jabba's former territory. Fennec's presence at Fett's side is the only reason he was able to accomplish anything. Just look what she did at the end of ep 7. All on her own. I wanted to like the show more. I may still watch the next season though. Assuming there will be one. Regards, Dave
The Book Of Boba Fett really is The Mandalorian Season 2.5 with a some of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand back story at the beginning. That back story was too long to fit into The Mandalorian itself, so a spin-off was created, with some additional fan service to focus on Tusken raiders, etc. I didn't mind the back story as such (Boba's journey from the sarlacc pit to an honary Tusken raider to crime lord on Mos Espa, culminating in a stand-off with Cad Bane) although I was kinda annoyed at his indecisiveness: "We will do this thing. This is the way. What's that? A different strategy? Okay, we will do that thing! That is the way!", etc. It could be that there are so many stories to tell that separating each character into their own self-contained series is just not going to work, so there needs to be crossovers and some episodes focusing on other than the titular character. Or it may also be a cynical ploy to get fans of The Mandalorian to watch more Disney+ content to keep up with that story before Season 3. --Geoff
And The Book of Boba Fett took home the Emmy tonight for Best Visual Effects in a TV series or TV movie -- and that's a very crowded field. Brilliant work by ILM (and about 6 other companies that handled some shots).
Here's hoping Cad Bane finds his way back into the mix. Did Cad Bane Really Die? Book of Boba Fett Actor Hints at the Truth He could be a cool, re-ocurring baddie vying for power against Boba. Even more interesting would be how Cad draws Boba back into the ruthless bounty hunting world. Boba season 1 is like a drawn out version of the last moments of the Conan film story where Conan becomes a respected, complacent king. At some point he gets the urge to get back out there on missions. Unfortunately that Conan sequel was never made but there is a great opportunity with this Fett series to do just that.
I'm sure they didn't go to all the effort to make Cad Bane in live action just to have him for two episodes. I would also not be surprised if he crossed paths with Ahsoka again at some point in her show.
That would be good too. I just need to keep myself from over-extending my expectations and falling into the prequel trap. Ashoka is the series I am anticipating above all others. It could be easily be a total bada$$ ronin samurai series. At least that is my vision for it anyway.
