Steely Dan CDs Different Masterings: A Decade of Steely Dan

My early Decade disc is one of the best sounding discs in my entire collection.

 

MY CRC copy has the guitar ending to FM and the abrupt ending to Do It Again. DIDY-306 on the back artwork lower right. Disc reads on the right center of the face: CRC/MCAD-5570/DIDY-000306 and it further states "compiled and remastered GARY KATZ" The CD face is titled "The Best Of Steely Dan"

 

I'm listening to the Gold Mastersound edition, and I can tell why it's not one of the preferred masterings here (from what I've heard).

And now from what I've heard for myself.
This is awful. So harsh and unlikeable. Like a cruel joke.

Off topic, but why isn't FM loved more?
It's simple, but it's becoming one of my favorites.
