Interesting, as Acoustic Sounds originally had a November date on their site for Can't Buy a Thrill, but now it says Arrival Date To Be Announced. Seems unlikely that MD will get copies of APO SACDs ahead of AS, when in the past it has always been the opposite. Vinyl Records, SACDs, DVD Audio, Audiophile Equipment|Acoustic Sounds
Is the special low insertion loss EQ gear mentioned not going to be used in making the SACDs? I’m not familiar enough with these AP releases to know if the signal chain for the SACD mastering is totally different than the chain used for the 45RPM mastering.
Yet again, Acoustic Sounds owns Analogue Productions. Their date is all that matters. Music Direct's date is meaningless. Music Direct won't have it if Acoustic Sounds doesn't. They either haven't gotten the word yet (likely) or haven't updated their page yet (possible). Music Direct owns MFSL. If anyone has the date correct for an MFSL release, it's Music Direct.
If this is the new release date it’s doubly annoying, firstly because of the delay and secondly because the UK deliveries will get caught up in the proposed Royal Mail strike that’s timed around then.
I thought that they finally found them in a locker years ago? It was around the time of filming the following that they (Donald & Walter) even realized that the tapes were even missing (I believe it was "Black Cow" and the title track "Aja", if I'm not mistaken?) I love watching these two talking together during this segment ...
Can't Buy A Thrill available as a download Onkyo- Music in 192/24 and 96/24 with 11/4/22 release. Can't Buy A Thrill - ハイレゾ音源配信サイト【e-onkyo music】
Also available on other outlets such as 7digital, should be everywhere Friday. I bought the 96/24, it sounds very nice, lots of headroom, no signs of compression. Best of all, very affordable! I was thinking about buying the SACDs, but still too expensive to buy and ship to my country. The download will sound just as good, and can always be burned to a DVD at 96/24.

Prostudiomasters: Search Results for steely dan - ProStudioMasters CA$13.49 for 96/24. That's less than US$10.
Can't say what you see in the US, but from Canada it is CA$13.49 well, there is tax added too. Anyway less than 1/10th the price of the UHQR, less than half the price of the SACD or 33. If you want the UHQR or SACD from outside the US factor in crazy shipping charges too.
Are the new Steely Dan downloads the same mastering as the upcoming Analogue Productions SACDs or something else?
It’s confirmed that the digital downloads are the same mastering? Are the SACDs being converted from PCM to DSD?
All we know for sure is Bernie Grundman did the digital masters. Hard to say if they are the same. Once someone has the SACD in hand a better comparison should be possible. All the youtube videos with Bernie are focused on the vinyl. Someone should ask him about the digital releases.

Per the Editor's Notes for Can't Buy A Thrill on ProStudio Masters, it sure sounds like they are the same new mastering: "All albums are being meticulously remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog tapes except for Aja, which will be mastered from an analog, non-EQ’d, tape copy, and Gaucho, which will be sourced from a 1980 analog tape copy originally EQ’d by Bob Ludwig."
Unless someone from AP steps in and does EQ tricks I'd think they would be the same. The samples do sound good, pretty much mimics the early CD mastering. I'm not hearing any treble spikes or bass boom (thank God) I think people will be happy with these.
It’s also available on Apple Music at 24/192, it would seem. I took some screenshots but I can’t figure out how to post them!
