    Hi Ron,

I'm not sure but I think the APO Box set was mastered for APO by DCC.

I currently have three of theDCC Gold's Miles Davis - Relaxin', Cookin', and Steamin'. The only one I don't have yet is Workin'.Great Music and much better sounding then my XRCD's or K2's.

I personally liked all of Miles music up until Kind of Blue.

Gary, I'm referring to the AP Lp set mastered by Stan Ricker. I think the Boxset by AP with DCC discs will ultimately be rarer and it sounds BETTER than the LP set. BTW, also looking for Workin & Relaxin DCC discs.

You can't get into the Miles/Wayne/Tony/ R. Carter stuff? Footprints, a great tune.

    Don't forget Herbie :)

IMO Miles best, most virtuostic quintet ever. These guys' musicianship were on a level unmatched before or since, especially considering the improvisational nature of much of it. Unbelievable.

Why Miles Smiles has been ignored by audiophile reissue companies is beyond me...

    You read my mind!!

Seven Steps is the Miles album I listen to most, of them all (well, it's a close tie with Miles Smiles). My daughter loves it (she's 3).

    Hi Ron,

Funny thing as a side note. I Brought home Wayne Shorter's Speak No Evil some years back. The album is supposed to be a Jazz Classic. Well my daughter who was 5 at the time became scared by the music for some reason and started to cry. . It turned me off to Wayne Shorter for a while. My Daughter is 9 now, and I was playing Steely Dan's AJA. Wayne
Shorter plays that great solo in Deacon Blues. My daughter Jenny likes the whole AJA album. Don't ask what the one thing has to do with the
    other.

Anyhow, I think I'll give Mile's later stuff another try.

Victor Feldman was one of my idols. I've been playing tuned percussion
for almost 40 years. I got my first set of Marimba's at age 7 and a year
    later my Vibes.

When I lived in LA in the seventies, I used to see Victor play in the clubs all the time, in various groups, supposed to be a killer drummer, but NEVER saw him play drums , just percussion and piano.

Portrait is very very good! That's one crappy recording, but the DCC does it some real justice. Much more so than the XRCD (the details are there, but the eq is so harshly bright).

To think that Waltz For Debby & Sunday At The Village Vanguard will be in my grubby little hands soon, cut at 45rpm by the real kings of all media... I can't stand it! :D

This thread might just see some revisions once the 45rpm sets ship.

    My votes go to

Joni Mitchell - Court & Spark (a truly beautiful disc)
Jethro Tull - Original Masters (for side one of Thick as a Brick alone)
