DCC Archive Steve, In your opinion?

    What would you list as some of the best microphones you have come across for recording vocals? Are there any with the in-built "breath of life"?

    I've seen some studio pictures and read articles where people love the Neuman U87, but I must agree with Steve-- you can't beat a good ol' ribbon mike.

    Steve asked for a "built-in" breath of life. Only one mic type does that--Ribbon.

    Other mics are great for doing recording, but the breath of life comes from the tube console, or mic preamp, or tube tape recorder & cutting system.

    Only the cheapo RCA Ribbons have that sound built in!

    True...you can "get" it from others, but it is not Built In.
