Boss, I'd like to hear some tales of adrenalin pumping, "WOW!, I found it!" kinda intrigue when you've hadda go hunting for mastertapes and the motherlodes were unearthed....

I'll bet the "book" is a project for Steve when he retires. You should be keeping a diary, Steve!

And after he passes on his skills and philosophy to his children.

Steve - would it be out of place to ask if you could publish a page or so of your notes? I would assume that as you must keep a pretty detailed log as to how long it took to find the right tape, where you found them, etc. I would find it very interesting to see your notes as to what you hear (or don't hear) on each track and your ideas as to your method on how to retain the "breath of life".

One of the greatest SH stories I've ever read about is the one about the Hotel California master tapes.

Our Fearless Leader saved that album for all of us to enjoy! :)

Since the Boss hasn't thought of any yet, maybe I can jump start his memory :D
This is the open paragraph from Kurt Loder's 4 Star Rolling Stone review of Buddy Holly's For the First Time Anywhere (dated March 17, 1983). This was my introduction to Steve Hoffman and after reading it I saved up my $5 per week allowance and bought the album, which is sitting on my lap right now as I read the review on top of it:
