I wish I liked the song more - it’s okay, but I don’t care if I never hear it again - but still a cool story all-around.

 

There was actually quite a bit of footage I shot that didn't make it into the final video, so, maybe it's time for an Extended Remix?

Actually, it would be even better if SW wrote an Extended Mix and send it to you to create a New Video, as my only complaint about the Song is with the Music not even starting until about 18 seconds into it, that just leaves it as about 2:23 of Music. A 4-5 Minutes Version of ‘The Tastemaker’ would be great to have, if not too repetitive of what is already there in the Original Song.

 

I can now confirm Steven Wilson has seen the video. He emailed me about it, said it was "very cool", and said he'd be posting it to his official social media channels in the future.

I knew his manager had asked SuperDeluxeEdition's Paul for my email address, regardless, it's pretty unreal to have one of your favorite musicians just pop up in your inbox.

Thanks so much Alan. Great of you to share with such care and passion - the stuff of legends.

 

I'm having an interesting thought experiment... "would I send a reply and, if so, what would I say...?"

 

We messaged back and forth a couple times yesterday.

I mentioned how much his music has meant to me, and how inspiring his music videos are, especially story/plot-driven ones like "Drive Home" and "Routine". And how I'd been listening to almost nothing but The Future Bites deluxe box set these past two weeks.

We discussed the ultra deluxe one-of-a-kind box, he said it was really important to him that even though it was a one-off, it was still as high quality as the rest of his deluxe editions, so he was delighted when he saw how happy I was with it in my unboxing video.

We talking a little about "The Tastemaker" video and that's when he said he wanted to share it across all his official channels (probably the highest praise, it's semi-canon now).

It was a few very nice exchanges. I printed out the emails and put them in the ultra deluxe box. And I will try to restrain myself from ever using the email address in the future as I don't want to overstep or overstay my welcome.
