As I understand it -The Tarot Box should appear in 2019 ,new vinyl ,cds etc -surround not decided on . Original master tapes with possible more than one mix .This may not be the source for any Tangerine Dream tapes though

I'll bet good money "Zeit" is included . It's his favorite:

All-time Favorite Record: Tangerine Dream – Zeit
"For me the original and greatest ambient record, years before the notion of “ambient” music existed. It’s music without melody, rhythm or structure, but listening to it is like filling the room with the most beautiful and mysterious perfume. Or like being suspended in the void. The opening 7 minutes with 8 cellists gradually weaving in and out of tune really sets up the subtle balance between unease and beauty that the album maintains for over 70 minutes. I can never get tired of listening to it."

My dream disc would be a 5.1 of Zeit with Wilson at the helm, but short of that a stereo remaster from a new source that sounds great would be awesome.as much discussion on this very site describes every digital version of Zeit has some sort of issue, tho very listenable,at least to me.

I find it hard to believe that the multitracks still exist.

Let's just say `Phaedra' is the starting point chronologically for this particular set. Esoteric just re-issued the Ohr years again (I refuse to call them the `Pink Years' !), but no 5.1 mixes to be seen there.

I wonder what "massive" means in the context of Tangerine Dream. Are we talking 100 CDs here? ;)

For those of you who aren't aware, there is a Zest facebook group with the current TD lineup as members as well as several others closely involved with the TD group. One such member is someone who worked on the boxset named Wouter Bessels. He hasn't revealed much but all we really know is from a facebook comment on a thread about said boxset.

    Someone commented this:
    "What I'd like to see.

    1. Absolutely nothing taken from the Tangerine Tree or other fan tapes.
    2. No tangentising, overdubbing or any other historical revisionism.
    3. New remasters of the Virgin Years albums from the source tapes, no defects, and please don't overdo it with the loudness.
    4. Outtakes from the studio albums.
    5. The Oedipus performance.
    6. Tony Palmers original Coventry Cathedral audio and video.
    7. Berlin 76 without the tape defects and overdubs.
    8. Sorcerer and Thief outtakes.
    9. Palast der Republik 1980 afternoon concert.
    10. A complete set from each of the unreleased early 80s tours.
    11. That Berlin 81 concert with the unique setlist.
    12. The complete set from the Logos tour.
    13. The Tatort soundtrack.
    14. Any other live 70s material, particularly from 75 and 76.
    15. A book accompanying the box set detailing how it was compiled and any trivia discovered along the way."

    His response was this:

"Challenging list. And - yes - several of your numbers included"

He's also made some comments about the real locations of where Logos was recorded which makes me suspect that we will be getting a full expanded Logos concert.

    Hi,

    Here I am.
I have also done work on Jan Akkerman's box set earlier this year (compiling, mastering, liner notes, etc.), from which some forum members may know about me.
Also, I have worked closely with Esoteric Recordings on the (pre)mastering, research and liner notes of most of the Tangerine Dream albums that were reissued since 2011 on that particular label. That includes the archive ('Bootleg') boxes too.

Concerning the forthcoming Tangerine Dream box set, I can't reveal any information until Universal has done the official announcement. After that, I'm happily to answer any questions - as far I am able to do on the subject.

    Best regards,
    Wouter Bessels

    Hi,

To put this straight: there was absolutely no connection between my comments on the forthcoming box set and the information regards the Logos album. They were part of two different threads.
Your speculations about a 'full expanded Logos concert' is therefore irrelevant and such a recording is - unfortunately - not part of any release in the near future.

    Best wishes,
    Wouter Bessels
