Why "Stop Making Sense"? Why a big suit? Why was a digital system used for the sound? What's the point of releasing this on vinyl, since it was recorded digitally and due to the inner limitations of the medium there's just no way vinyl is going to sound better than a properly mastered cd?
Hi Guys! I'm in for the 2x LP. It's 49,99€ here in Europe. Believe it or not - I never saw the film... Should I watch the film before or after the 2x LP cones out?! Bye Andrea
Not sure if this YouTube Link(below) for the Entire SMS Movie will work in Italy, as I am sending it from the US, but hope you can view it, as the Concert Film is as vital for the Visual Components as the Audio Components with the building of the Stage and adding Band Members during the start of the initial Songs, until they reach a Full FUNK Ensemble. It is like One Big Party(This Ain’t No Party, This Ain’t No Disco, This Ain’t No Fooling Around). If I want to listen to the Audio of a Talking Heads Concert, then I play my Favorite Live Album, The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads.
Because digitally recorded music can(and sometimes does, imho) sound great on a vinyl medium, despite rumors to the contrary. In fact a big record company just conducted a giant experiment on that subject over the last few years
I think that many of us have heard The Nightfly or Alison Krauss’ Live album on MOFI so we are confident that is not always true (although it is true a lot of the time.).
I see. I thought he was referring to an actual experiment, as opposed to fraudulent claims by a record company to see if anyone would catch them.
Master source is the remix that Jerry Harrison and ET Thorngren did for the CD re-release and DVD release. Newly remastered for this vinyl release by Ted Jensen at Sterling.
Vinyl is less limited than CD in the resolution of file it can use. Also vinyl uses studio grade DACs to generate the analogue audio, they are probably a lot better than the DACs in my modest SACD player.
Are we sure? The CD re-release and DVD release is the non-special edition release (no "Cities" or "Big Business/I Zimbra"). Hopefully they aren't just dropping the 1980s-era mixes of those two tracks into the 1999 remix...
Yes, we are sure. I produced this 2LP reissue. Cities and Big Business/I Zimbra were remixed at the same time as the 1999 reissue for possible inclusion.
Holy hell yeah! Hopefully this will get a Dolby Cinema or IMAX release. Something with a really big sound system!
Exactly; however excellent the production, mastering, etc. might be, it's negated if the pressing is sub-par.
I believe he said Optimal for Europe and GZ owned Memphis for US. It's somewhere upthread I'm buying on Amazon so I'll return if it was GZ'd and look for a European press after if need be
Not exactly; the generation loss inherent to analog copying means that a vinyl release from a 24-bit file is still technically downscaled, since you're taking a recording and making another recording of that on a more limited format (one that arguably has more limitations than CD, considering that you also have distortion and surface noise to account for provided you aren't compressing the living daylights out of the audio).
Guys, it's all mastering People for the most part like vinyl because generally speaking more care is given to the mastering of that format (there are of course many exceptions) Far as I can tell there's not a CD release of this particular remastering so the vinyl vs CD discussion in moot
