How about two at the same time? Grace Slick and Marty Balin. :D

Grace Slick doesn’t get enough credit for being such a great singer....IMHO

Roy Wood was not replaced by Jeff Lynne. They shared it and then Wood left.

nope. They were in the band at the same time, and both sang lead vocals.

Van Hagar or Collins Genesis no, but again they had their first gold album and first top 40 hit in over a decade, so it wasn't a total blunder

Can were a niche cult band for one album with Malcolm Mooney and then they were a niche cult band for much longer with Damo Suzuki.

Rickfors did not sing the lead on Jesus was a Cross Maker but he did on their almost hits Magic Woman Touch and The Baby.

Syd Barrett was never the sole lead singer for Pink Floyd. Nor was he intended to be.

He was the focal point though... and even if you just look at the Barret to Gilmour swap, it's still a contextually correct reference

They had their first success with Rod Evans.

But neither one was ever the lead singer. Syd provided the bulk of the material, so he sang most of the vocals, but he is not even the only lead vocalist on Piper.

Though Mickey Thomas (who replaced both Balin and Slick) would count.

I understand that, but I am not sure that that discludes them from this.

Syd sang, and had enough success with enough songs to count. Dave sang and had enough success with enough songs to count.

If you don't think so, that's cool.
But at the end of the day, I do think so.

    Re The Hollies

'King Midas' - Nash intros it then Nash-Clarke sing lead before it's Clarke-Hicks-Nash with Nash-Clarke on the bridge ...late on Clarke is repeating the line 'All He Touches Turns To Dust' over the main leads

Terry Sylvester sang 'Jesus Was A Crossmaker' while 'The Baby' charted in the UK and 'Magic Woman Touch' charted in Europe

The Moody Blues - John Lodge and Justin Hayward sang alternate verse lines on 'Isn't Life Strange' with passages sung in full harmony as was 'I'm Just A Singer' and 'Steppin' in A Slide Zone'

I not only read the post you were replying to, I liked it as well. I know exactly what the discussion was about. I made a specific reply to your statement "Just read the topic. Odd when the OP doesn't match the topic." That statement was neither funny nor germane.

Once again, I apologize for not finding any of your posts to be a laugh riot. Maybe you needed some emojis to drive home the point. Sort of the equivalent of your own canned laughter to help along your cause.

All kinds of people "enforce norms" in the course of these threads. It tends to happen when posters blatantly disregard the intent of a thread and just say "I'm gonna post whatever the hell I want, regardless of whether it has anything to do with what we're talking about." This is not the sort of behavior that moderators trouble themselves with. They've got enough to do as it is.

If a thread you created went significantly off the rails in terms of the topic you wanted people to discuss, you might appreciate some of the in-house enforcement you're complaining about now.

This poorly titled thread could be renamed "success with a replacement singer"

One of the requirements is also success with the original singer, which is not always the case.

That's true. But Rickfors does sing on the track, and he was the group's designated lead singer at the time, so the Hollies had the success while he was there.
