Haven't read through the thread, but I saw something recently that said they were still together. I can't recall where.
I finally got my ticket for SFA in May. There is the full 2015 NY show on YouTube currently-I may watch that at some point between now and then.

it was apart from where we were standing, right in front of the mixing desk that turned out to be a main thoroughfare we had at least 50 people squeezing through past us while they were on stage, i'm getting to the age where this type of thing pisses me off far more than it should do, why cant people pick there spot and stay there, there were bars & toilets either side of the venue so there was no reason why anyone should need to walk across the front of everyone else, its winding me up just typing it!!!
Gruff Rhys just released a new song called "I Love EU". I think it's streaming on Soundcloud, but that site is blocked on my work PC. It's available to download via iTunes, but not in the US (ARGH!).
Now I'm getting worked up about this show. I have a big week for 90's alt. rock next week. Pearl Jam for two shows, then the next day Local H, then Super Furry Animals. I'll be tired for SFA, but I am ready to rock for a band that has hardly played in the U.S. recently.
Pearl jam are on my bucket list of bands but every time they have been over here I have not been able to make it
Well, I'm about to see Pearl Jam but for Super Furry Animals fans in the U.S.-the tour has been postponed until July... A new song from SFA, coming out in May: Super Furry Animals to return after seven years with Euro 2016 anthem 'Bing Bong' | NME.COM » After 'I Love EU' by Gruff, dare we hope for a whole new album? I dare, I dare.
Yeah, I saw this morning that "Bing Bong" comes out on May 13th. Man, I REALLY hope we get a new SFA album.
It's on the Guardian's music page as well: Super Furry Animals – Bing Bong video premiere » I dunno, I like SFA a lot, but I'm not really feeling this one... it sounds a bit like a Eurovision Song Contest entry run through a vocoder or something..
The song is on iTunes in the U.S. Downloaded this morning. LOVE IT! So great. Vocoders, throbbing Kraftwerk groove, heavy bass, synths ... glorious. My summer jam for sure. 12" coming out next month. Hoping for an even weirder remix on the b-side.
I'm more thrilled by the fact that they actually got together and recorded something than the song itself. It's very repetitive with a video that only enhances that feeling. Hopefully they can (or have?) put a whole album together with some better songs.
Gruff (or maybe Cian) said in an interview recently that they haven't started on an album, but it's in the cards. So, we'll see. I doubt it'll happen this year, but who knows.
