Dylan played a three song set, appearing between sets by the founders (after Neil and before Willie). He played guitar (a rarity!) for all three songs - "Maggie's Farm", "Positively Fourth Street" and "Ballad of a Thin Man". Mike Campbell was the bandleader.

A very good rough surprise set. Maybe they rehearsed for 5 minutes.
Yes, and Bob played guitar for all 3 songs. Think it's been awhile for that.

Thought you were referring to the original Farm Aid, but evidently not:

Ugh! Kick me now! I thought about streaming the event but then I didn't do it. What a dope I am. Hopefully the YouTube link is still good. As an aside, I thought Dylan's guitar-playing days were long gone; as someone already said, the man is full of surprises.

the first song, maggies farm, was very ramshackle and kind of almost fell apart, but was great fun, and got better as it kept going.
positively 4th st was really good, less sloppy then maggies, and bob hit the lyrics well
the final song thin man was also really good- and just when you thought the song was over, bob launches into another guitar solo, and the band was delighted and laughing, joined in... bob stood for the first song, then sat on a stool for the other two, playing electric guitar the whole way thru... and sang great!

What I was hearing is that it was Dylan with Mike Campbell's band The Knobs. Not sure if Benmont Tench was on the keys for this.

Bob was all over the place but whipped out a couple of tasty solos. Great, great stuff.

Watch the stream link while you still can; it can take them weeks to put out the individual song performances after the fact.
