    My own, of course.

From the ashes of a busted Technics SL-6 for which the seller wouldn't refund my money (the platter/motor was pulled and a tonearm created). Having gone through several iterations, the tonearm currently sports:
    1. Unipivot design.
    2. Constrained by elastic bands that also serve to provide damping.
    3. Constraint allows the counterweight to be moved up (no longer dropped), so the arm is of a neutral balance and the stylus pressure remains the same regardless of album thickness or warps.
    4. Wiring moved such that it exits the arm directly above the pivot, minimizing any lever effect that existed previously.
    5. Ebony arm wand provides ideal level of stiffness to damping.
    6. Cartridges mounted via T4P adapters. I found I kept returning to using my styli on T4P bodies with adapters, even though I have suitable 1/2" bodies for them. Lately I've been looking for all sources for resonance and found that the T4P adapter provides a degree of decoupling of the cartridge from the arm, I find it increases clarity in the upper midrange. Maybe this is why people are raving about various 1/2" cartridge decouplers like the Funk Firm Houdini.
    7. Everything else you see, is the result of the hunt for anything contributing to any sort of resonance problems. The support bracket (which holds the arm rest) for example, was replaced with acrylic because it tested better then wood. The silicone grip added to the finger lift reduces a slight ringing it once contributed, especially when listening to the orchestral bells on test records. The counterweight is a two-piece design with damping. I've even gone back to using just the twisted wiring between the arm and jack, because the shielded/jacketed wire was a weird source of resonance problems.

Uni-pivot arms are nothing to be afraid of. Cue the tonearm, wait a second, lower the tonearm to play.
I have buttery fingers and shaky hands, and have never had a problem.

I just added a Pioneer PL-50 with a new Hana cart in the basement. BTW, David, if you started a "What brand of CD player do you use" I wouldn't go in there and thread crap even though I slightly prefer vinyl.

Only got into LPs last April, but I got my first and so far only Turntable in August that year. A Sony Ps-lx300USB. Fantastic machine with great sound. Being of the younger generation, the automatic play and stop is of course a great plus. :agree:

No pops, crackles, wow and flutter, skips or hum here... maybe you need to seek out a better turntable setup and find someone who took care of their albums. I have LPs I purchased in the 70’s that today are still without a tick or pop to be heard. Amazing how some are so uninformed as to the possibilities.

presently I have a 'pair of Yorkies' Simon Yorke S9 & S10. Included with two arm wands each to satisfy my moody penchant for change.

Yes I keep track of the side counts and then just average it out for an idea of the hours on the cartridges.

My Pioneer PL-600 stopped working so I bought a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB and am very happy with it.
