Hedningarna Their album Trä is my album ofvthe 90s, and yes, I was also more than just excited about Nirvana, but even they cannot touch this record. When I first heard a track on the radio I was hooked. It was the opening track from their second album Kaksi!, Finnish for two. But it's their third album that was my first encounter on album length (this were the 90s, the internet was not yet as omnipresent as it is today, international shopping was still something where you needed to know the right mailorders or buy a lot of CDs at festivals, such as Rudolstadt Featival): Trä, Swedish for Three is an albhm that went on most heavy rotation for a few years to come. The titles of their 2nd and 3rd album alone show a lot of their humour and open approach to folk. And what an outstanding album Trä is! It still does blow me away, these many years later. And from that album Tuuli is the quintessential Hedningarna track for me: Swedish folk band meets Finnish singers and this track features yet another layer, the Sami Joik artist Wimme, plus historic Joik recordings. This is greatness on so many levels. Hedningarna are still active, they have made a whole album with Wimme, and more. Though I wish they'd do another album, but as someone who cannot read the apropriate news due to the language barrrier there may be a lot that I just don't notice.
Technically Norwegian, but Sweden claims him. A great player, one of my all-time favorites. Here is something from his youth. His later work is stunning. He has matured into a virtuoso. You can hear the rumor of that future here:
Måns Zelmerlöw and Carola have already been mentioned, so I'll throw in Tommy Körberg and then go full pop with Robin Bengtsson. All Eurovision entrants! MZ and RB continue to issue some great pop songs - here's an '80s synth throwback: Robin Bengtsson: Dark Angel (2018)
Stellan Skarsgard is in a video, I wonder if he is a fan of her music Lykke Li - Sadness is a Blessing
80s goodness! Visitors was a duo consisting of Göran Danielsson and Svante Persson. They issued their third and final album in 1990.
Just this morning I listened to "Living In America" and it's such a great album. The title track isn't necessarily the best song on here. It's that good! There's very little filler!
a singer that makes me wish I spoke Swedish, Swedish original of this song is called Vem tänder stjärnorna.....also another video with actor Stellan Skarsgard in it Eva Dahlgren - I'm not in Love With You (1991)
I have no idea how this song got into Miss Congeniality movie, the only place I ever heard it, but it grabbed my attention back then much more than the movie itself......it sounds like a Melodifestivalen/Eurovision type of song, Bosson should have entered that contest Bosson - One in a Million (2000)
Sarah Brightman did a cover of this, but this is the original, beautiful composition Dive - Captain Nemo (1990)
Dennis and Larry make very fun Euro synthpop.... strong 80's Erasure, Pet Shop Boys influence Eurotix - We Could Have Been (2020)
thank you, Monica Zetterlund is good singer. It's my first time hearing her, classic Swedish pop and seems also classic 60's Eurovision
Great singer....I have the one album that had a hit or 2 on it with the associated hit single c.d.'s....i need to search out his other albums.
only in Sweden singers who look like rockstars (E-Type) sing Euro dance music. E-Type - This is the way (1994)
80's schlager-pop from Lasse Holm and Kikki Danielsson. English version is called A Little Bit of Loving. To me sounds similar to some ABBA Chips - Mycke Mycke Mer (1980)
