Some people here could spend it on power cables and related crap (plugs, conditioners, fuses, etc) alone

It means he's envyus, and we get a thread by him in hopes others join in to belittle others that he's envyus of.

It’s wild that people can actually do that. My dealer put a 1 million dollar listening “cave” on a guys property. All to get away from his wife!

    With or without house?

Why don't people list their gear, including whether or not they have a roof over their heads? You'll get better, more tailored recommendations, and you wouldn't waste your time.

What he said. I would love it! My system as-is sounds pretty good for this 63 year old with bad tinnitus. And it cost maybe $13K.

As I read thread thinking that's a lot of hookers and blow.

Excellent call on Steve's shirts too.

I've read that a night with one particular lady can end up costing you 130k... makes the audio system seem like not bad value :)

Where did I belittle or encourage anyone to belittle anyone? You totally missed the point I was trying to get across, which was, in the end, it’s the beauty of the music that really matters. And that beauty can be found on a Fisher Price kids record player or an expensive system.

Better to have a little scratch and know what you are listening for than all the money and no idea (although the later is highly entertaining).

If you have a lazy $400k to spend on audio, you are living in a different world from me.

That said, if I had some fraction of that amount surplus to immediate requirements, I would place it somewhere for later contingencies, add the interest earned to my regular income for a few treats or general expenditure, and call on it later if ever needed - which is in fact my current situation (not with $400k though!).

You know, if you keep it to $100k or so you'll have money left over for a couple watches.
