Tallest Musicians

Except for when Mick Taylor was in the band. Have read him described as 6 foot 3 which may not be true, but he's definitely tall (met him and he was at least as tall as me).

 

No he's not that tall, he lives in the same area as me and I often see him around. I am almost 6ft and he is about the same.

 

Famous bass(ketball) player wayman tisdale was very tall in concert.

 

Magnus Sveningsson, bassist for The Cardigans. I’ve read both 6’5” and 6’7”. Can anyone confirm either measurement?

(I could believe the latter; he seems impossibly large next to Nina Persson. It makes for a particularly entertaining visual, given his tendency to bounce around merrily whilst mouthing along to all her leads, even when he’s nowhere near a live mic.)

I can vouch for that, I've met him a couple of times and he towers over me, and I'm 6'3".

I've never met Ray Davies, but my friend who has, when he's come into his record shop, reckons he's taller than me, so at least 6'4".

Paul Jones (Manfred Mann etc.) is another I have met and he is certaintly about 6'4".

At 6' 2" Jack White isn't exceptionally tall, but he's a lot taller than he looks.

 

Late Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby was 6' 5".

 

In the liner notes for the Charles Mingus Atlantic 56-61 box there's a foreward by producer Joel Dorn titled 'How Tall Was Mingus?' Mingus burst into his radio station when he was a 19 year old DJ in Philly and immediately filled the room with his presence. He appeared mountainous, but in reality he was only 5' 9".

 

Ah ok. I have read that height in a few articles about him and was surprised. I certainly trust your first hand account though. Hope he is doing well

How tall is Todd? I just did a quick Internet search and didn't find a definitive answer. I've met him a few times and don't remember him as being taller than me (6' 2".) I sometimes notice if people are taller than me, but I rarely notice if they're shorter.

 

Questlove of The Roots is around 6'2" or so judging from when I've met him.
Duff of Guns N Roses must be 6'3" or 6'4"
Snoop Dogg is 6"4'

Terry Hall from The Specials is much taller than I expected him to be.

 

Chris Cornell and Billy Corgan are probably the tallest frontmen I've seen live..

(Just looked them up, they're both 6' 3" (191cm). They seemed waay taller up there on stage )

 

Mick Fleetwood, not sure how tall he is but he's a big strapper.
