I have a basic model Tannoy (can’t recall the model number) and a stenton needle. I’m getting g a little more into sound dynamics and was wondering where I stand with this. I use what was a $600 Pioneer receiver in 86, 83 100 watt fisher speakers w 12” woofers, mid, and tweeter and a pair of shelf Bose for a little more high end. The turntable and fisher speakers have been rebuilt recently. I also have a Yamaha equalizer but didn’t hook it up since I am not sure it’s worth using or not. Is there a better needle I should use? I’m not able to buy an expensive turntable and want to at least make sure how to get the best out of what I have. Thanks
What turntable do you have? Also, you should probably fill out the equipment section of your profile.
I'm not familiar with old Stanton cartridges. I'd recommend purchasing something newer strictly because of convenience. If your looking for something that won't break the bank, many people on this board are big fans of the Audio Technica VM series. I recently listened to a podcast that raved about the Goldring E3.
