I am excited for this! I already pre-ordered it. I wonder who will be doing the mastering for the LP's and if they will be recorded to tape like Signs was.
There are a handful of artists whose new releases are something I follow with great excitement & Tedeschi-Trucks Band are most certainly one of them. This sounds like an incredibly ambitious & exciting project! I wonder how much of it will appear during this sets this Summer on the upcoming "Wheels Of Soul" Tour?
I would guess they're added to the set as they're released. I don't think they'll play the albums before they're released.
My best bet as well- a featured section of the show highlighting whichever of the 4 has just been, or is about to be, released... or maybe various selections from the project over the course of any given gig. It will be interesting & exciting to see/hear how it all unfolds. The video teaser sounded great- as always!
Regarding AAA or not, there are hype videos showing that it was recorded to tape....hopefully all the way analog for the vinyl. I know Derek and Bobby Tis care about sound ALLOT.
I agree, no real reason for them not to if their previous album was. That care also reflects who they get to master these albums. Hopefully it is KG or BG, etc.
One thing I will say, as I want to experience this music first on LP with the mastering/resolution of my stereo: September is going to be a long wait! The good news is I have plenty of other music to keep me occupied. I waited with RHCP's unlimited love and do not regret it.
The limited box does seem expensive....its 89 for 4 albums....and 169 for the albums in a box with some artwork.....
Thanks for the heads up! I went ahead and pre-ordered each of the vinyl releases. I couldn't see paying an extra $80 to get it as a box set. I'm happy with each individual album.
Box set indeed over priced compared with the 4LP bundle but i might consider buying it but only if it's sold through a European webstore. With shipping & handling & taxes from the USA it's really getting too expensive.
Sounds like this is going to be a great project. I'm looking forward to buying the CDs one at a time, slowly getting into each one individually, getting and grooving to the first one, then the next one, the next one, then the next one. June can't come too soon!
$44.99 for 24 total songs on CD is an interesting choice for a business model. Buying them individually for $11.99 at the cost equivalent to a full album for what ostensibly looks like a series of EPs is even more interesting.
Not ready to classify it as a series of EPs....given the progish record titles, maybe the songs are very long?!
I think Tedeschi/Trucks will give us our money's worth. As others have noted, the box set seems a bit steep, and I already have Derek Trucks's autograph on an old DTB setlist. But I'm in for four CDs. Every time I hear Derek Trucks, he's playing better than the previous time. An incredible musician.
Hahaha...great. TTB does Yes? I'm in! Oh, please don't get me wrong...Despite my reservations over the pricing model, in terms of quality, I have absolutely no doubt that the band will exceed expectations.
