I'm a casual-at-best fan of these various artists via their occasional associations with the remnants of The Grateful Dead. But I watched this set Saturday night and it is AWESOME! (Yes, I love the original LP). I had to go and play "Thorn Tree in the Garden" when it was over, for "closure". :) The musicianship in this set is off the charts!

Couldn’t agree more with a number of posts upthread.
This definitely needs an official release.

Came across this last week by accident.. Its stunning. Masterful musicians playing a classic record with love and care.
Congratulations to all involved.. I'm no Phish fan, but Trey's playing was outstanding.

TTB really gets it. One of the premier rock bands out there.

TTB are a phenomenal live band that unfortunately, IMO, are underrepresented with their official releases. They've produced solid studio albums and decent live albums, but (again IMHO) what's been released so far is far from their best. Their smokin' covers of Layla, The Allman Brothers, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, and a variety of soul tracks are amazing and need to be released!

I randomly tuned in to this during I Looked Away and was blown away as the broadcast progressed and it became apparent they were doing the whole album. The band was fabulous as always but the interplay between Derek and Trey was an inspiration! Wow! Some serious jammin’.

Count me as another one who would like to see this officially released.

Agreed. You just don't name a member of the Allman Brothers extended family "Derek" and not expect great things. :righton: He is one of the best and hardest working guitarists out there... period!

I hope we see more of this at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in three weeks. The event will definitely be filmed and released on Blu-ray. With multi artist roster, TTB may not get enough time to perform the full album though. However, they could talk Eric into joining them for this performance and make it even more special!

Yes I saw Derek with Clapton do a bunch of Layla tracks in 2007, I can still remember that Little Wing had towering solos from both of them.
As for his reputation it just keeps on growing!

When I saw him live 12 years ago he gave me cause to doubt there was a better electric slide player alive!

As an aside note, the only track from the album Eric never played live (minus Thorn tree) is I looked away.

A great performance, and it was getting hotter as it went on,
