Seriously. Guys.

Isn't this the fourth (fifth?) title where BB has a pre-order price of $9.99? And this is what happens. Every. Single. Time.

• 100+ SH forum members pre-order
• SamS (and others) tell them "you're going to get burned by BB"
• Release date comes, 3 people get their $9.99 discs
• Amazon offers it up for $15. Many stick to their guns, praying for BB to come through.
• The other 97 get emails stating their orders are delayed, or cancelled
• A week goes by and those that got their order cancelled start to get pissed.
• Price goes up on Amazon. The $9.99 BB pre-order folks get even more pissed.
• BB never comes through, cancels all 97+ outstanding orders.
• Repeat for next AF title.

 

I've preordered a few different times from BB and the only one I haven't received was Innervisions. If I don't get this for whatever reason, it's really not a problem for me. And unless its something I MUST have, I'll order again from BB.

Remember, you can't always get what you want.

For the record, I got the Jane's Addiction gold disc from Best Buy for $11.99. Not $9.99, but still cheaper than Amazon.

I agree. As much as I like a deal, when EVERYONE gets in the act, it always turns sour.

 

You just wrote the exact script of I'm certain, what happened to me pre ordering the Janes Addiction AF via one of these Best Buy $9.99 deals. Got all excited and my order was cancelled in the end.

 

I got both the Stevie and the Jane's from BB for the cheapo price. And I just placed three orders for this one. If Best Buy screws me, oh well. It's worth a shot.

Same here. To be honest I would probably pass on this title if the price wasn't this cheap, so if I never receive it won't be that big of a deal.

 

I have gotten all Audio Fidelity titles that BB has offed on preorder so far.
Ordered this one today.

 

It's certainly a crapshoot with these pre-orders. I got James Taylor but not Stevie Wonder. But what do you have to lose? Might as well give it a shot.

 

I'm 2 for 3 with Best Buy on the AF pre-orders. Fingers crossed on this one.

 

The post was just out of character for you. I'd hate to create an atmosphere where people feel like they shouldn't share bargain info.

 

There's really no reason not to place an order. It's a few clicks, and then you forget about it. If you get the disc, you've gotten a bargain (as others have in the past). If you don't, you've lost nothing.

 

I'm all for a bargain, and love it when folks share info. I just want to save the frustration for folks who have not seen this merry-go-round, before. Nothing worse than getting your hopes up for a nice bargain, and having your order cancelled and being left empty-handed, while others are enjoying the CD on release day.

I disagree. We've seen Amazon get close (i.e. $15) via pre-order price, then the price goes up. If you don't get one via BB (odds are stacked against you getting a copy), then you risk paying more via Amazon or other online retailer if you wait until after BB cancels your order to order a copy. Plus, some noted that BB held a charge on their CC for weeks after the cancellation. Seems like a lot of headache to save $4, when you could enjoy it on release day rather easily.

 

Exactly. Best Buy has let me down before, Amazon never has.

 

Took the gamble a moment ago.....

 

I got my Stevie and Janes el-cheapo from BB. I'm in for TYA, we'll see.
