Who’s Next without a doubt. Might just go play it now just to solidify my point.

Isn't it strange that while we might own thousands of recordings we find ourselves listening to certain albums over and over. I believe that albums that trigger memories of good times in one's life get more plays than they might otherwise deserve. An album that triggers those memories and is also fantastic in its own right will move to the top of the play list. My top 5 (arranged autobiographically!):

    The Raspberries - Starting Over
    Aerosmith - Rocks
    Elton John - Captain Fantastic
    The Beatles - Revolver
    Pink Floyd - Animals

I remember that I bought "Wish you were here" the week it came out. It stayed on the turntable for a month.

I have no idea, but it's probably something like A Question of Balance by the Moody Blues and I'd guess 200-300 times total.

Jeff Beck: (the album with his greasy hands on the cover). Listened to it for 4 months straight non stop. lol. Seriously

Deep Purple: a 'live' bootleg I bought for $2 at Walgreens. Listened to it for 2 months straight, my only music, CD... for a rent-a-car.

Pink Floyd: Meddle. Blew-me-away when it came out.

Azimuth: Telecommunications, Light as a feather, Outburo, Cascades. I was ADDICTED.

Donald Fagen: The Nightfly. Still LOVE it.

Black Sabbath: 1, 2, 3, 4. When it came out.

    R. Stones: Sticky Fingers... just happen that way.

From the age of 13 to the age of 20, I had a note book where I marked every time I listened to an album, nowadays at the age of 55, I have no idea.

Buffalo Springfield or The Doors, the first LPs both, most likely. Then all the Beatles albums. Elephant Mountain by The Youngbloods is right up there, and gets a ton of plays still.

A contender for me playing now.

    The Who Sell Out

I'm playing the UK Track mono. Even though I had the LP before 1995 when it was fixed, the horrible edit in Rael is still annoying! A real 'What the ****?!' moment. The 1995 remix is my fave Sell Out.

Another contender played just before it,

    Led Zeppelin II.

    Plum Atlantic UK pressing. Phenomenal.

Thinking about this today, albums I've played so much that I'm sick of them (Even though I still play them fairly often!)

Paul McCartney - Chaos and Creation in the Backyard
    Paul McCartney - Flaming Pie
The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St.
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
    Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Bob Dylan - Blood On the Tracks
    U2 - Achtung Baby
    Yes - 90125
    Prince - 1999

Something by Springsteen - either The River (my favourite of all time), Darkness On The Edge Of Town, or Nebraska. I've been listening to him since I was about 13, whereas I didn't get to The Beatles or The Stones till I was about 19, maybe 20.

All time? Probably either 'Abbey Road' or 'Sticky Fingers.' There was also a phase in my mid-20s when both my one roommate and the other roommate's girlfriend claimed they'd heard nothing but Radiohead's 'The Bends' playing from my room for about six months. I believed them.

It could be The Nightfly (The River and Exile On Main Street being serious contenders but are much less listened the last decade meanwhile i keep listening The Nightfly on a regular basis since 30 years...).
It could become Tusk (pop) and Pierre Fournier's Bach 6 Cello Suites recording (classical)...

    It's a toss-up between Love's Forever Changes and Highway 61 by Dylan.

The Innocent Age has been the album i've played the most around 2010-2011. Fantastic (double) record.

Over the last 16 years it is Currents by Tame Impala. Thunder, Lightning, Strike by the Go! Team and Absent Friends by the Divine Comedy are close, and the first four Talking Heads albums might catch up some time soon. I know this because I always play the whole of albums and keep a record - I wanted to learn Microsoft Access, and there aren't many better things to use for a database than a music collection.
