    Great thread.

Impossible to answer really (apart from the fact I have never kept track) and something I would really love to know the answer to.....the answer would probably differ from different periods in my life....and surprisingly I suspect I have probably played some of my favourite albums less times than others. I also love artists as oppose to individual albums, so artists with larger discographies means one album is less likely to have be favoured.

Genesis – Selling England by the Pound

Entered rotation in ’78 and never left. One of the 1st CDs I bought and still have it. I had it on reel, on cassette, on CD and now on vinyl, always multiple copies too. Never tire of it.

Al Di Meola Project – Soaring Through A Dream

Entered rotation in ’88, on cassette. I’ve seen Al live twice in late 90s: once in a trio setting (superb) and once solo. After the latter I sold most of my CD collection, this is one of the few that survived the purge. His keyboard player was driving me nuts, plus Al was recycling old ideas. THE 1st CD I ever bought in ‘94. I still listen to it from time to time.

    Queen – Sheer Heart Attack

As a teenager I liked A Night At the Opera more, but I never had it on CD till DCC released it – by the time I was switching to CDs I was tired of it. SHA, even though didn’t enter the rotation until ’82 when I was already in college, stayed ever since.

Electric Light Orchestra- On the Third Day. My all time favorite album, and I've played it regularly since I first bought it in 1980. Jeff really created a perfect album here IMHO. He said in a Classic Rock interview recently it's his favorite ELO album.
Second- and its a distant second.... would be Queen II

  10. Man, I really had to think about this one. I think for me, the one album that gets played in its entirety most often is Joe Walsh But Seriously, Folks... :) with So What taking a very close second.

Honorable mentions would include Business As Usual and Cargo by Men At Work and Parallel Lines by Blondie. And then the other usual suspects like DSOTM and Exile.

so, so hard to say. it would be out of ...

Prince - sign of the times
    Led zep - iv
    pink floyd - final cut
    pink floyd - the wall
cold chisel - barking spiders live
zappa - one size fits all
zappa - we're only in it for the money
genesis - and then there were three
gentle giant - free hand (would be getting close now too)
    devin townsend - epicloud

so hard... i wish someone could somehow count what the actual answer is.... but it would be one of those, or something i have forgotten about (for the moment)

Given the fact that I've been listening to it since I was a kid, it's probably The Wall, but I honestly can't tell.

since 1971 or so when I bought my first albums....

probably either Led Zep 2 or Houses of the Holy, or Golden Earring Moontan. Possibly Miles Davis Kind of Blue.

thats a long long time - and the answer might actually be another, but I got those somewhat early on and loved them all so much I played the hell outta them.

Charlie Rich - Behind Closed Doors - The greatest country-pop masterpiece from the man known as the Silver Fox, who got his start at Sun Records along with Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis among many others. Charlie Rich was once described by a music writer as "The missing link between Elvis and Ray Charles.

    Behind Closed Doors
is a sort of country-pop version of Frank Sinatra's Only the Lonely masterpiece, though a little more positive in its outlook to some degree. Rich had elements of country, jazz, and rhythm & blues to his sound. Behind Closed doors was his magnum opus and did not have a weak song on the whole album. Brilliant musicianship by some of Nashville's greatest musicians, like blind piano wiz, Hargus "Pig" Robbins, and overseen by the great Billy Sherrill. The fantastic album includes the number one country-pop blockbuster, The Most Beautiful Girl (In The World), as well as the grammy winning performance of the title track, but all the songs are worthwhile and none are filler or sung with less than Charlie's total vocal commitment. Sheer sonic bliss to say the least!

Very likely to be Sex Pistols..Never Mind The Bollocks..if only I'd thought of making a diary of albums played, would be interesting to know.

I sometimes think..'I wonder what the last piece of music I ever hear will be?'
