I personally disagree with this as Time Waits For No One and Fingerprint File are by far my favorite songs on IORR.

    YMMV

I dunno. I prefer the silence of the runout groove.

But seriously, folks, the winners have to be 1999 and HOTEL CALIFORNIA.

Have to go with Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley.

  5. The Beach Boys - Today would peak with the first three songs if #4 wasn't so good.

The most obvious example is Houses Of The Holy, which is a great album from start to finish, but the first three tracks are my favorite 15 minutes of any LZ album.

Matching Mole (s/t): O Caroline, Instant *****, Signed Curtain
Genesis (s/t): Mama, That's All, Home by The Sea
    This one could be controversial:
Michael Jackson Off The Wall: Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Working Day And Night

Can't agree. Way too many good songs after that! "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Bitch" alone disqualify "SF" for this thread!

The title song is the album's best song, but the 2nd and 3rd best songs - "Stay" and "TVC15" - are on side 2! :)

And of course Genesis would be a perfect three soongs if You are including both parts of HBTS.

David Bowie's Let's Dance. Starts with Modern Love, China Girl and Let's Dance. The rest is pretty good, but the first three steal the show.

I could argue that the last three songs are the peaks - After The Ordeal, The Cinema Show, Aisle Of Plenty.

If you did, I would disagree.

I think Firth of Fifth and Dancing with the Moonlit Knight tower over the rest of the LP. Just my opinion ...

Yeah, they're great, but my point really was that I don't think the first three tower over the last three. The Cinema Show can't be ignored.

No argument there! Just don't agree that the 1st 3 songs are the best - "Golden Years" might be my least favorite song on the album...

    This is the answer.
I'll Follow The Sun and Eight Days A Week are real good but those first 3 are a new direction.

The 1-2-3 punch that opens this album is KILLER, and with the exception of "Electricity", and perhaps "Cop Shoot Cop", the rest of the album doesn't reach the epic status of the first three cuts.

Yeah........I probably have to agree with this, though I also like "Revenge," "Citizen Ship," and "Seven Ways of Going."
