:magoo: Well, my health is really limiting my mobility, to move audio equipment around, conduct comparisons, and configure my listening rooms for specific customers planning to visit. So my retail shop needs an apprentice
(for pay, just for fun, or a combination of both :pineapple:), someone who would enjoy learning my trade, and my preferences in sound, then extend his own experience to add even better performance in our shop and maybe go with me to audio shows. Three listening rooms, mostly vacuum tube equipment, and a 4th listening room waiting to have a raison d'etre (reason to exist). Please contact me if you have any suggestion how to find someone to work part time with me, or become a friend of the shop and just visit to help out occasionally.

This week, Tuesday or Wednesday would be a BIG help. Day or evening. 562-897-2227

Drop everything and everyone at home, and move to Los Angeles. The Audio Home has a spare bedroom room for a visitor/watchman, and not far from Hollywood, you can try to become a movie star here between working with me.

This part of the USA is famous for fantasies to be made or fade.

I'm telling ya, we'll make sure its fun, if you can come and help. A lot of listening to LPs, RtoR tape, SACD, DVD-Audio, redbook CDs, Blu-Ray music discs, tubes, transistors, big 200 watt amps, little 6 watt amps... and selling, finding customers who like us and value our judgement. That means not only selling, but sometimes encouraging people to cure their upgrade bug and enjoy the music with what they have.

Oh, and for the Steve Hoffman forum, I would like to continue with visiting members' homes and reviewing aystems.

Also, working with Steve Hoffman to acheive his sonic goals.

What an amazing opportunity for a younger person than I. If only......

Boy, I agree, I think someone, somewhere would really enjoy and grow from working with me. And my life would benefit from a new, younger friend to work with. If only some of the right people could hear about me wanting this.

    Have you tried Facebook?

I searched and couldn't find a page for your biz. Don't quote me on it but I believe a basic biz account is free. Then members here could like and share your page. You'd reach many more young folks that way.

Local university bulletin board? The one near the jazz or rock n' roll or classical music class.

    Or indeed.com, Audiophile Apprentice wanted.

I wish I'd seen this listing when I went to school!

Kansas is a beautiful state. My father used to joke about how flat it is. But I found that Florida is even MORE flat, and not near as beautiful. So I only joke about Florida now, and dream of a life like I saw in Kansas, away from the stress and too-much-of-everything in Los Angeles. Well... actually I am kind of used to the too-much-of-everything to choose from; maybe I would get a little bored with too-much-less-going-on.

I had a friend who tried selling Linn, Audio Research and Magnepan here in the seventies. His shop went belly up. I think you'd better stay in LA.

Overland Park had some very nice high-end audio shops in the 70s, 80s and 90s

I think they're all gone now. Acoustic Sounds in Salina seems to be making a go of it. I hope you find some good help.

Yup. The couple of shops in Wichita seem to be struggling. One recently moved to much cheaper real estate.

Warren, I sure wish I lived closer or had enough $$$'s to fly bi-weekly to you that is unless the thought of moving up north holds any appeal for you. I come stock with the listening and comparison goods experience. :)

In case there's no practical interest for you good luck my friend.

Do you mind it being shared on social media?

I will get back to you on that. Right now I think I found someone to work with.

Something tells me that meeting someone in the SH forum is more safe than randomly meeting from social media.

Cool, good luck. I was thinking more along the lines of some selected audio groups. But even that can be rather “open source”. You might get more inquiries than you want to mess with.

I’m just over the hill from you, actually, like 13 miles away, but it’s a shame I’m neither young nor have the time to even apply. I would like to visit your shop, though, maybe once I’ve saved enough to get, at least, an Oto.

Please, don't even THINK about any obligation to visit TheAudioHome with something in mind to buy. Anyone, particularly from the SH.tv forum, is welcome to come and just listen. If after you listen, you form a stronger opinion about the Audio Note brand, either positive or negative, then I did my job. And, it really is my pleasure to play music with company, with no preconceived desire to buy anything.

Please take advantage of my enthusiasm, because many audio dealers ultimately become "burned-out" and start to feel taken advantage of by "lookie-loos". I am not there yet, and will quit before I ever am, because I am not representing my favorite audio brands for the money. The money is just a welcome side benefit to doing something that I enjoy.

That being said, I cannot imagine any possibility that after hearing my demo audio systems, anyone could leave with a negative impression. And it is difficult to imagine that anyone could NOT start thinking more seriously about wanting buy some AN someday.

Warren, not to disrupt this thread, but I can't find your thread regarding the potential group buy of replacement MC styli. If you can help me I may be interested.

I moved from LA a little less than a year ago and I would have been all over this. I'll ask around with some of my friends to see if they'd be interested.
