Sunflower group album cover pose very symmetrical, 3 members posing ..three not. Inside cover a little bland(imo), but cute. But the concept ..came from a orange crate logo, Carl's idea. Brian was to use Orange Crate as one of his solo albums, with Van D Parks.
White suits ? Cabaret circuit. Graham Nash distanced himself from the white suit look ala "Hollies Sing Dylan "by forming CSN.
It’s the name of a sunflower/surfs up box set, due for release this year, that’s apparently been shelved. See Rick Bartlett’s post a few back for the inside track. Someone’s started a petition to show support for the release: Sign the Petition Seeing as the box is apparently called Feel Flows, is it worth renaming the thread? Just a thought.
Yeah gives it a commercial flavour. Maybe we'll get a US track selection + a UK track selection. Right this minute powers that be are toying with the big orange crate box of sunflower goodies, selling price $300?
I'm not keen on the title 'Feel Flows' either - I know that song has a good rep especially since it was in 'Almost Famous' - but that was 20 years ago.
At least six Beach Boys album should be big boxed themed. Sunflower 20/20 Surf’s Up Friends Wild Honey Today
Thank you for posting those comments. I might be missing something, not being able to read between the lines, but I didn't see the blame being placed on a band member. If Edelson and Stebbins know something that we don't - specifically the blame - why don't they just come out and say it? But let's blame Mike anyway. That's easier. That's more fun. That's what The Haters do best!
Didn’t they have a problem selling Carl and The Passions by making it a two album twofer with Pet Sounds in the seventies.
Edelson is being professional and keeping bridges intact. Why air the dirty laundry? That makes zero sense. And it could truly ruin the chances of having this thing released eventually
Read the quote from Jon Stebbins. Yes, you need to read between the lines, but for a general answer, the holdup is with one or more members of the band.
Xios is correct. Little Deuce Coupe was repressed and sold as a budget album in the early 70s. I know because I'm looking at my copy right now. To reflect its budget status, it was issued the catalog number SM-1998, rather than the original (S)T-1998 designation. In addition, the references on the back cover to the group's other albums were deleted, probably because Capitol had deleted, or truncated and reissued many of them with new catalog numbers. Analogue Productions restored the original catalog numbers and artwork on its incredible reissues.
I got tired of waiting, so I "rolled my own", so to speak. It might not cover the exact ground that the official box will (hopefully... if we ever see a release), but it covers my favorite period of the band (1969-1974): Needless to say, if there was an official release of this box, my set would go right in the trash!
Do you know how 'teasing' that is to even look at? It's a feeling of 'oooh', 'yep yep', 'oooh, where's the Paypal button'. Then 'BAM!' End of fantasy.
And the quote from Howie implies it's not Bruce or Alan, both of whom have spoken about the impending release of the set. That leaves Brian, Mike and Carl's estate (which I highly doubt would interfere with its' release).
