Yeah, they made the Beatles look like wax lobsters with overuse of grain removal and bad color correction. That was a very botched job.

I didn't notice that. Maybe because the first time I was watching MMT was on VHS.^^

I think what you'd need to do for a Magical Mystery Tour deluxe box is to include all the non-Pepper 1967 tracks in the package, even if they are songs that ended up on the Yellow Submarine Soundtrack. So basically throwing in "All Together Now," "It's All Too Much" and "Only a Northern Song", plus "Carnival of Light" because why not, and really a MMT would need another carrot to make it comparable to the Pepper Box in sales, and CoL being included just might do the trick. There are also some bits of incidental music from the film that could be included on CD/vinyl for the first time, like "Jessie's Dream", "Shirley's Wild Accordion" and some of the mellotron noodling from the really long version of "Flying." The film mix of the title track is very different as well and includes some different vocals/dialog from John which would be great to have remixed and on CD.

On "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields", surely there is one more outtake from each of these songs that could be included. John's demo sequence that was on Anthology could be cleaned up and made to sound better and clearer and included here. The piccolo flourish version of "Penny Lane" as well. No reason not to put together a MMT box!

Maybe there will be an RSD release of a double EP containing alternate versions of each song from the film. That would be cool (as long as there were plenty for everyone)!

By 'decent 5.1 mix' I assume that people want a producer who will be spinning in his chair while remixing. Giles said he can't do that as it makes him seasick.

They should do a 5oth Anniversary edition of the EP not the album. The EP was how it was originally intended by the Beatles and that is why it was released in the UK in this form. Plus it would be silly re-releashing Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane yet again as they are already on the Sgt Pepper deluxe. Apple would make money (ok maybe not as much as Sgt Pepper but still enough) if they did something like this.....

Disc 1: 2017 Giles Martin Remix of the original EP
    1. Magical Mystery Tour
    2. Your Mother Should Know
    3. I Am The Walrus
    4. The Fool On The Hill
    5. Flying
    6. Blue Jay Way

Disc 2 & 3: various studio outtakes from the time the album was recorded like Shirley's Wild Accordion or differant takes/instrumentals of I Am the Walrus, Baby You're a Rich Man etc.

Disc 4: mono version of original EP with the following bonus tracks
    1. Hello, Goodbye
    2. Baby You're a Rich Man
    3. All You Need Is Love

    Plus.......

    A Blu-ray with:
    1. a new making of Magical Mystery Tour documentary focussing on the music and NOT the film.
    2. The music videos from the film and the Hello Goodbye promo
    3. 5.1 surround mixes of the music (same as which comes on the CDs

And a few posters and a nice big book.

Come on Apple we'll buy it!

When Apple get around to doing this, I can help them out with a decent needledrop of the Fairground Organ version of She Loves You from an original EP.

I meant my post for the other MMT thread which is the one where the thread-starter said they'd do a separate movie thread.

...two threads about one subject. I got confused.

Considering 1967 is my favorite year in the Beatles history… I’d realllllly love for them to do another box. Doesn’t necessarily have to revolve around the MMT EP. remember, there was also Baby You’re a Rich Man, All You Need is Love, Hello Goodbye, all the incidental music from the film, probably tons of home demos we’ve never heard, certainly other stuff that was left off the pepper box, the 9 minute Flying, John’s other mellotron Music/“Chi-Chi’s”, freakin Carnival of Light… let it allllll out!

The EP is less than 20 minutes. They can let this stuff out all on a couple of discs and still have room for the original mixes and a remix.
