Thanks, Kim! Have been chasing Mark for a long time (nearly two years) to do this. Sadly, after a few postponements, I received an email from Mark, the morning we were due to record, telling me that Neil Innes had died.

Neither of us felt up to it, but Mark was a true gentleman to go ahead, despite being upset (he’s a BIG Innes fan). Full credit to him for doing this.

Perhaps I was just decanted from the wrong test-tube, but can somebody tell me how one adjusts the volume(from their end) on these podcasts?

So we now have confirmation that volume 2 will end in 1966 and not spill over into 1967.

Got an alert to the podcast just before I went to bed after seeing in the new year and I couldn't resist listening to it there and then, so a very late night but a great way to start the new decade. Surely we will have volume two by the beginning of the next one and hopefully many more podcasts. If he could do at least one or two of these lengthy interviews each year then that would make the wait for the full set of books that much more bearable.

Woah cool! Never heard this before. Are these live rehearsals? Something from the Star Club?

The melody certainly stuck in John's mind too. Here he is adlibbing a parody of it while on holiday in 1977.

Having no one to share my sadness with (yes the wife's knows how much I loved the man, and she was just as bummed, learning of the death of Vaughn Oliver just a day or two earlier), listening to this ep., THEN the Neil ep. was just what I needed.

    Thank you.

I wonder if there is a connection with the 1977 release of the Star Club album and this parody by John. Perhaps he listened to the album and it triggered his memory?
