    What were those remixes of SFF, PL, and BYARM used for?

    Listening to Schlager Schlagen Ein this morning, and Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand on this stereo LP is the mono version. :(

    J. Brennan shows Electrola STE 83659 as an early German release of the two stereo mixes, although he shows 1963 while the discogs listing shows 1965. Has anyone heard it?

    Yes, apart from the fact that the tracks were created in January 1964, there's the issue of the girl on the cover holding the 1964 single. 1965 would be a safer bet than 1963. :)

    Specifically, the German Horzu MMT that ended up being the template for the CD.

    The template for the CD was actually the UK 8-track/cassette release, although it's not clear if that was released prior to 1973 or not.

    Looking again, it appears the tape issues did likely date from 1973 originally:

    "3. The EEC number of the MMT cassette is 244-05333. 244 is the price and format code.
    The EEC number of 1962-1966 ("the red album"), released just before MMT, is 284-05325.
    The EEC number of Ringo, released later in 1973, is 244-05492.
    The later Apple releases follow."

    IIRC, I Am the Walrus has a different mix in the German album.

    Yes, the mix released in the US, albeit with the full intro.

    As on the 1967 stereo German EP.

    Thanks for the clarification, I was a little thrown at first but I researched and got the information regarding this release. Cool to see the actual cover.

    I don't think Volume 3 is in the cards, but I could go for one with:

    - A Hard Day's Night (United Artists)
    - Yesterday and Today
    - Revolver (truncated US version)
    - Hey Jude/The Beatles Again

    Or swap out Hey Jude/The Beatles Again with The Beatles' Story. Issue the odd LP out, whichever one it is, as a separate release.

    I'd buy it.

    Actually, that's not strictly correct. 'Volume 3' is an excellent idea, because, if done right, it could include the following:
    • A Hard Day's Night (the stereo 'mix' is, well, interesting...);

    • the 1966 stereo and mono mixes of Yesterday And Today, AND the 1969 stereo re-issue all have content that never made it to digital;

    • the stereo and simulated-stereo mixes on the original Magical Mystery Tour LP never made it to digital;

    • the Hey Jude LP has a mix of 'Paperback Writer' that never made it to digital.

    No, same mix. The channels were just reversed.

    Probable.

    Either way, it makes the vinyl Hey Jude distinct from the ‘US Albums’ CD version.
