I believe Ken Scott was the main architect of the White Album sound. Does anyone know if he had anything to do with the remix, or if he has commented on it?

I'm fairly certain Geoff Emerick was not a fan of the Sgt. Pepper's remix.

I sort of think these remix's are kind of unnecessary, but my opinion doesn't mean much...(except to me).

    Thanks.

I don't know if he was involved with the remix, but I like it. It's a different listening experience at the very least.
And the original mix is still there.

Ken had zero to do with the new remix.

One way or another we will aways have the original mix (I hope).

I hope too, but it has happened before when the remixes replaced the original in the retail market...and I'm not talking the secondary market...

The original mixes, both mono and stereo, are all available, in all kinds of places, in different masterings of vinyl and digital - the original vinyl releases and the re-releases of same, the various CD versions from the '80s to now, and so on. I really don't know why people think the original mixes are lost at all. Our host has given praise to the '80s CD version of the White Album, and that's available used all over the place. We may not ever see another all-analog reissue to vinyl, but that's another matter.

With a band as big, well known, and with as many people knowing the original mixes as The Beatles? I don't think we have anything to worry about - plus these releases include the original mono mixes anyways so the intentions of the ones who put these together are not to replace - and are specifically being marketed as a different take on the album to begin with as well

key word: USED. I guess you missed that in my post...not including the secondary market...aka: USED and new from third party sellers as well...

One thing I realized about this mix is how dry it is. Anyone else notice this?

    Of course it does.

You know, Giles should have placed the vocals in the right channel and jammed everything else into the left. Then it would have been great! :sigh:

It would have been awesome if they did all of this in the analog domain, but then it would have been a fortune for sure.

I think Geoff Emerick just doesn't like the IDEA of remixes in general. I think he feared these remixes would remove his involvement from the legacy just a bit more. I doubt he sat down with headphones on and examined the remixes.

We all know from his book that his legacy means a whole lot to him.

It’s a genius marketing strategy really. Like coke did in the 80s. Replace with the new and improved and several years replace that with the classic/ original
