Yeah, Westworld is another show that went right off the cliff, smashed into a wall, and then exploded into 19 different directions this past season. The difference there is that Blacklist is just a variation on a straight police procedural theme, while Westworld is a vast, epic, huge-budget science-fiction story about world domination and fate and identity and free will and determinism and a bunch of other lofty concepts.
none of which seem to have any direction or purpose. westworld is, truly, one of the worst shows on TV.
There are shows I watch on TV just because they look really beautiful and there are technical elements of the production that I like to examine, but the story is for crap. Sadly, I think Westworld has fallen into that category.
Here's an article with the producers and the London pre-viz animators who put this episode together, talking about how it was done and why they chose this route: Due to COVID, The Blacklist turns to live-action/animation season finale - postPerspective
Clark played a great part (& a hard part to play) & he played it perfect! If there's any scrap footage, I'd like to see them create a scene where Reddington phones him with a request for something (like saving an FBI agent's life). They continue the show & near the end they reveal his passing while doing a heroic deed on his way to doing what Reddington asked. The FBI can hang his picture at headquarters to honor him for his bravery. RIP Clark!
not real happy with the story line for this season, but i guess there wasn't anyplace left to go. i wish they would just go back to solving the cases (weird cases) that reddington gives to them and forget all this mom, dad, js she, isn't he crap. it is just non important and rather boring. to say it nicely
The Season 8 opener was very weak and confusing and, as you say, they should just get on with it. The Elizabeth Keen character cannot carry an episode and they should simply and quickly return to the Blacklist.
The constant changing of each reveal not really being the truthful reveal has worn out its welcome. Next week we get the truth...again. Hearing Landslide made me cringe. It made the entire sequence laughable for me. Still love the show but mostly for the action in each episode and for James Spader who manages to keep his character likeable despite all the muck they keep tossing at him.
