Well, his album title was sort of prescient too, as there seems to be a New Market Gap on wall street everyday lately as well.

I can't remember if this album has been discussed here recently, if so, sorry 'bout that. But for those who don't know it, it's pretty cool because it has the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Linda Ronstadt, and Arlo Guthrie and Tracy Nelson (under pseudonyms) on the guest list. Linda and Tracy sing Rock Salt and Nails, one of my favorites from the New South albums, and Arlo always gets me with his unique voice too.

Ricky from back in his late 70's days, with a lot of his usual crowd back then, Tony Rice, Emmylou Harris, Jerry Douglas, Buck White. Has some country influence with pedal steel and drums and even Albert Lee on electric guitar, but overall a bluegrass tone and feel.

Acoustic guitar flat picking. From the mid to late 1970s, one of the guys who followed in the footsteps of Clarence, Doc and Tony. Hope he's modified his hair do a bit since then, but he was a pretty fluid picker back then. Lost track of him in recent years.

Byron Berline, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Vince Gill and John Hickman among others join in on this outing.

Dan Crary is a college professor in California these days if I'm not mistaken.

My word, Daniel- I know times were different, hairstyle-wise AND album-cover wise but that hair is a SHOCKER.

Edit - made even funnier by the album title.

The cheesiness of bluegrass album covers might be one reason classic bluegrass lps are often cheap. I'm ok with that.

In my bluegrass news, I laid down some cash the other day for the Bear Family Jimmy Martin 5cd box and am now working through it. Good good good.

Yeah, I looked him up after I made that post last night and read on his latest doings. He's in Southern Cal with Cal State Fullerton there. Seems like he kept active with some occasional touring too over the decades.

What I didn't realize was that he was actually a predecessor to Tony Rice in the Bluegrass Alliance around 1970. He's already 80 years old.

That album I posted is the only album of his I have, but am going to grab a few more, I think.

He's gone full hipster look too. Not bad.

I think I have 3 of his albums, excellent guitarist. Yes he was in Bluegrass Alliance, kind of like the Yardbirds of bluegrass, Tony Rice, Dan Crary, Jack Lawrence, Vince Gill and a few others from 68 to 78.

Whoa....how do you go from look A to look B? Even if his badass look is dorky, it's light years away from the dorky simpliciter look he started with...

Don't ask him to take his hat off though.

Seems like a nice guy, so I don't want to rib him too hard.

One man's "dork" is another man's, "I could care less what anyone thinks". Long hair was common in the 70s and 80s. and balding is common period.

It's not the mere fact that he was balding with long hair, that's a look that could probably be pulled off although not easily. But I don't want to go on about it, since sometimes people google themselves, or maybe you know him. It's all good, it's not like he should be embarrassed the album cover exists or anything, it was just a chuckle-inducing look. A lot of people might chuckle if they saw me.
