The line-up is Dave Aguilar, Tim Abbott, Gary Andrijasevich, Alec Palao, and Derek See. They did three West Coast shows last month (anyone here go see them?), and will be touring in 2019.

Torn on this one, interesting

 

"Together they've created a record that deviates from the Watchband's first phase of raunchy groovers and tender space-outs, opting for a more modern rock sound…"

I didn't think this description boded well for the new recordings, but the one they've shared is pretty good, really. Kind of moody and atmospheric. It's no "Don't Need Your Lovin'," but it doesn't necessarily have to be.

Speaking of which, nice that they used a frame grab from the Riot on Sunset Strip movie for the story. I've always wished the full recordings of the songs that appeared in the movie itself could be made available, as they're entirely different takes from the ones that came out on the soundtrack album.

 

Has anyone ever had access to any recording tapes that Ed Cobb might have kept?

 

This is a good album. I liked it quite a bit and was surprised how much I liked it.

I got it last week, in the CD edition -- have listened to it now nearly a dozen times -- it's GREAT!

The guys are all seemingly on the same page, David Aguilar and Tim Abbott's singing and songwriting are all they ought to be, the original songs are all worth hearing more than once, and I love the covers of older songs that are there.

 

Yes, I played the heck out of this for a month. I need to get it out again.

 

Any bonus tracks on the CD? There are 11 on the LP.

 

No -- that same 11 tracks, which is fine with me.
