Instead of starting a new one each year I think perhaps we should just keep one going from here on out so we can keep whatever momentum we manage to get. The main point is for new issues coming out all analog but since those are in short supply people should certainly post reissues that are all analog and it seems like good information to have so might as well list those here too. Generally speaking this is for quick reference, detailed discussion of the actual release should happen in their own threads. Otherwise it gets messy and defeats the purpose. So here is one to start off the continuing (and continuous) AAA forum thread: Barbara Dennerlein: Barbara Dennerlein AAA Vinyl
GRV1200 Vanessa Fernandez - I Want You: 100% analog recording. Tracked on 2 inch MT running 30 ips by Michael C Ross at United Recordings in Hollywood, mixed down to 1/4 inch running at 30 ips by Michael C Ross at Sphere Studios, Burbank, and Capitol Recording Studios, Hollywood. Mastered and cut at 45 rpm by Bernie Grundman from the 30 ips 1/4 inch master. Vanessa nails it with incredible (and incredibly recorded) performances of covers of I Want You (Marvin Gaye), Right On For The Darkness (Curtis Mayfield), Creep (Radiohead), Every Time You Go Away (Hall & Oates), Billie Jean (Michael Jackson) and several others. Featuring Tim Pierce (guitars/arrangements), Alex Al (bass), Jeff Babko (keyboards), Victor Indrizzo (drums), Luis Conte (percussion), Charlie Bisharat (violin), Ricky Woodard (horns). Double 45 rpm gatefold LP scheduled release date is set for Axpona 2019.
Just discovered this band Whooom on bandcamp. Heavy psych rock from Netherlands. Their album Bardo is from 2018. AAA all-analog. Bardo, by Whooom
Well, the thread hasn’t gotten much action so far, so what other modern AAA records have you seen come out in the last month since we started the new year and the new thread? I would love to see some more.
A Hip Hop, R&B, neo-soul band straight out of Brooklyn by the name, “Phony Ppl”, released a Record that was mastered specifically for vinyl recently. The album is called “Mozaik”. The record label lists it as, “An Original Recording By 300 Entertainment” and the label also says “Full Frequency Phonyphonic Sound”.
I just saw on the Southern Lord records website that the new Sunn O))) is all AAA recorded at Studio A by Steve Albini.
This album was released in 2017 on Svart Records. The liner notes say it was mastered using a Studer A80. Would that mean it is AAA? Cool early 70's hard rock/heavy prog vibe in the tradition of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep. Some great guitar and hammond b3. The band is from Chicago.
I'm happy to report that I now have the all analog vinyl for my record "No Filter", recorded live to 2 track 1/2 inch tape at 30 ips by James Farber and mastered by Bernie Grundman on his tube lathe. After having rejected 4 sets of test pressings, I am really pleased with the result. I finished mailing all copies that were bought already, whether through Kickstarter or not, this morning! I hope those of you who supported the project here will enjoy the result! Thank you all so much for the support! Jerome Sabbagh
Jerome — received my copy over the weekend. It sounds fantastic and, most importantly, the music is great. Congratulations!
Wish I could get my hands on one. They keep selling out on Matt Talbot’s online store in minutes after they go up.
The last batch didn't sell out for at least 15 min if you wanted the version with the poster, but yeah, it's been a challenge. Great artists are rarely great businessmen, as this DIY project has demonstrated. Here's the latest: » DiH Vinyl Earth Analog Records
Yeah—as my friend informed me, Matt is also basically doing the reissue all himself as well. So it is a big task.
Great look. This will be awesome I’m sure. Speaking of doom - the third man vault package of Sleep is presumably all-analog. Was recorded direct to disc.
Big thumbs up for Jerome's work on this record and his other release The Turn. The way ALL vinyl releases should be...already in audiophile sleeves and includes high rez download offering. Sounds great, very quite vinyl and dynamic recordings.
