Like GeorgioV said, that's a good idea if you don't fancy listening to demos. But I would recommend getting the three original CD singles (if you don't have Join the dots) to get the b-sides, which are essential and of album-worthy quality.

I'm pretty sure I have 2 of the cd singles (definitely don't have Friday...) I'm sure one came in a big box. I need to dig them out.

Cool, then you just need Friday. I'm not a fan of the remix, but the two extra tracks are excellent

Just playing the remaster. It sounds ok-ish. Definitely not great. I can hear all the traits that are problematic. It does remind me that it's a very good album. Think I'll get an original CD.

Got the vinyl of this for Christmas. Sounds great but side 1 of the first record has a scratch through almost all of it… Back it goes unfortunately… Why can’t they just release everything in poly lined sleeves?!! Urgh!

Seriously. Fine if they want to press picture disks but please release a black version.

One play through the 3CD set. It's pretty good. Played the album itself last as I've heard it so many times anyway. Seemed ok as far as modern (damn loud) mastering goes, certainly not as bad as it could have been (Disintegration 2010). Enjoyed the unreleased demos on CD2 and great to have Lost Wishes on CD at very long last. I'm still disappointed in the glaring omission of the extended 12" mix of 'A Letter To Elise' from the rare promo CD though. Especially as the Fix Mix of Open from the US 2 track High single made it on. Yet the 3 mixes that were all track 4 on their respective CD singles are on, along with Doing The Unstuck extended 12" mix (I guess this is the same as the Saunders 12" mix on Join The Dots CD3?) and a totally random single live track in End.

The extended Elise is the best alternate/extended version of the whole Wish era, and bizarrely gets left off this release. Oh well, still plenty to enjoy across the set. Didn't need the 3 single remixes as I have the original singles (and box), so CD3 could have been better, but overall it's a good set and I enjoyed reading Robert's notes. Now I'll have to go back and find the post that details other stuff missing from the set! I'll definitely spin the unreleased demos & Lost Wishes a few more times. Then I'll get stuck into Mixed Up deluxe which I finally got round to buying. Who knows when the new album will come out!

had been putting off listening to the deluxe edition of "wish" until i had some time to really give it a good listen--the album proper sounds fantastic--much more space and definition for all of the many many parts weaving in-and-out and i can absolutely hear things that i couldn't before. i was so jazzed about how great "open" and "high" sounded that i actually skipped/saved a few tracks for another night of actual listening no other distractions. one of the rare instances in my collection where the deluxe edition really pays off as far as the actual release proper!!

just checking into this thread after opening my copy last night and giving some tracks from the album proper some time. i didn't come into this "wish" deluxe edition expecting much noticeable change, but i absolutely hear the differences even in just "open" and "high." there's space inbetween the instruments in the mix, giving each part more definition and it sounds really more dynamic to me. i was surprised as we usually have to take robert's talk w/a grain of salt ("entreat plus" sounds like garbage compared to the original "entreat") but it caught me off guard. see above post--ready to give the full album some attention soon!

Thank you both : I thought I was alone to hear what I listened to.
Great remaster indeed despite what the nosayers think.

I bought a cd of the original and last night compared it to the remaster. I'll sit on the fence and say I don't prefer one over the other. There seems to be a little more detail in the remaster but I'm not sure it's more dynamics. Same with a lot of remastered stuff I find that in the drums there is more of a digital feel. On track 1 of my original there is sibilance on the vocal. It's a decent remaster but the original isn't incredible.

Finally listened to the remaster today. It has some advantages over the original CD and vice versa. I'm used to the original so I'll be sticking with it but this new remaster is not bad at all. I'll be thrilled if they ever give Wild Mood Swings the same treatment

I'm out of town, and picked up Wish on double lp, black vinyl. Looks good, surprised at no gatefold tho. Will report back when I can put it on the turntable at home.

I've learnt that if the press release doesn't specifically use the word "gatefold" or the pictures or mock-ups accompanying the press release don't show a gatefold, then it's a single-sleeve release :)

Why? The original wasn't a gatefold either.

I used to have a mexican pressing that had a gatefold.

That's the only version in the world that had a gatefold (instead of printed inners).

It's the only one I could find that was a gatefold on discogs.
