I caught this movie on Showtime this past week:

The Current War (2017) - IMDb

Thought it was completely fascinating. The acting and the direction really had me fully engaged.

Any other folks around here check it out yet?

Agreed. We watched it the other night and I thought it was well done.

I fell asleep - too tedious and overly dramatic.

I agree on the overly dramatic part.

There's a good story to be told here but the director wants it all to seem URGENT and SUSPENSEFUL!!!

This has the opposite effect, as the natural narrative becomes lost beneath all the ginned-up tension.

It's still decent but it could've been much better if just played straight.

Though nothing can save Cumberbatch's awful American accent! :help:

A very interesting and important historical and current story poorly told.
