What delights will 2023 bring for fans of the Doors? A fiftieth anniversary edition of the first Butts Band record? The rest of the London Fog songs? New, specially branded ‘JIM 80’ trucks for your Doors skateboard? It’s the thread Bruce Botnick futilely tried to clean up with digital technology to remove all the usual arguments … The Doors 2023.

First question: what would you like to see released this year? Second question: what do you think we’ll get?

1 - nothing -----let it go---enough is enough

2 - all year -----they will never stop as long it sells----when people stop buying, the madness will end.

  3. A 12” 45 with the two dedicated mono cuts - Yes, The River Knows and Wintertime Love - from the mono Waiting For The Sun LP. No need for the rest of the album’s songs as they’re folds.

My 2023 delight would be finding a nice original „The Soft Parade“ to complete the set. :righton:

Talk about flogging a dead horse. No doubt they will find some way to fleece the fans though.

you joke, but I would LOVE a 50th anniversary edition of the first Butts Band record. More people need to hear it -- it's damn terrific.

A release called The Doors Are Closed with nothing on it. Just a blank vinyl record and a cover. Would make a great RSD release.

There should be an ongoing thread that carefully and closely lists all known releases and unreleased Doors material. Also online (especially YouTube) content. Maybe there's a webpage that does this? I'm always tryna remember what I have versus what there is and also what else is missing.

Hopefully include whatever else exists outside the 2 albums.

    I know of -

Mike's Blues (B-side of Get Up, Stand Up single)
    Black Cloud (2017 release)

and the 2 tracks added to The Complete Recordings (1996)
    That's All Right
Lovin' You For All The Right Reasons

Maybe even add The Krieger Densmore Reggae Bonanza's Kinky Reggae. Their 1983 12-inch which had the Butts Band's Get Up, Stand Up on the flip.

Would be nice to see a rerelease of the Touch Me/Wild Child promo single, just to get the B-side mix more affordably.

Where in the hell is the complete Matrix performance from Abrahms master tapes the band purchased so long ago?? Those tapes also contain two unreleased tracks.

I literally acquired the two Doors CDs I was missing yesterday. I was just thinking about how I'm done buying anything Doors.

Probably the easiest to find out of the original six, in my experience. Got a nice clean used old copy for around $15 several years back.

The Matrix tapes that they allegedly paid a lot of money for, released 3 or 4 songs, and have done nothing with the rest.
The safety copies of studio recordings that went up for auction on Ebay, the auction was stopped, Robby Kreiger claimed they had acquired a lot of studio material we would soon hear.
All those partial releases, like London Fog...
By all appearances, those deals were never completed.

"Jim Morrison": "The Morrisonesque story of one Morrisonian Jim Morrison":
An ultra expensive quadruple LP consisting of 4/5 hours of a loop of jim morrison saying: "My name is Jim Morrison"

Also a previously unknown, super surprising fact that fans of Val Morrison never knew: Jim Morrison had two eyes and hands...WWOOOOOWWWWWWW MAAAAANNNNN!!!!

I don't expect to ever see it, but I'd love to see a release of Jim Morrison's complete, unedited spoken poetry recordings with no music or other overdubs.

    Pffftttt, who cares about that....
We need More Skateboards!!! More "young lion" printed t shirts with quotes that probably werent his.
Some action figures. (only jim though, since to some people apparently the doors was a solo project and john, robby and ray were just sidemen)

on a serious note, the whole thing is beyond frustrating. i cant stand watching pictures of jim anymore. they are milking a dead cow.

But why buy just one Door when you can get the whole band in Funko Pop form from your local Wal-Mart :)

Hell, I don't know. A nice reprint of the mono first album with the 7 Fire/Ship would be nice. Can't find those anymore. A non-screwed-with one - regular black vinyl.

Anybody know if the distortion on some parts of the mono are from the recording or a cutting error?

Clearly the current business model – whatever non-completist, motorbike noise, skateboard, new guitar-on-old-song, beermat, missing tracks, wrong edit, leave-it-in-the-can, multiformat cow-milk ripoff policy it is – is working well enough for the concerns of the only people likely to be interested in buying the product to be ignored.

I’d say that was crazy, impossible … then I look at the demented state of the world and realise in that context, maybe it actually makes perfect sense.
