I'd have to go with "Blue Sunday", though "Waiting for the Sun", "Riders on the Storm", "Orange County Suite", and "Five to One" come pretty close!

My all-time favorite is "Light My Fire", my current favorite is "Universal Mind" (live in Bakersfield 1970), and my obscure favorite is "Ships w Sails".

  10. Yep. That's the one. At the Aquarius Theater, LA. July 21st, 1969.

I've lamented that there was never a proper studio version; however, every time I hear this version I'm reminded that no studio version could ever touch the magic therein.

"Celebration of the Lizard" is my favorite The Doors song.

My favorite studio song would have to be "The Soft Parade."

A 17 minute studio version of -"Celebration of the Lizard" was released as a bonus track on the 40th Ann WFTS remixed cd.

Can't really pick one but I'll say Roadhouse Blues as I can play it on guitar, in my very amateurish way.

"The Crystal Ship," because it sounds like a fake rock song performed by a fake rock band in an AIP exploitation film about Sunset Strip circa 1966.

  16. Right. That's why I said a "proper" studio version. That was a run thru in the studio. It's not certain if they would have used any parts as backing tracks. Really, I would think not since they re-recorded "Not to Touch the Earth."

So, the effort was certainly not put into that take.

IDK if its 'Soul Kitchen' or 'Light My Fire'. One of them for sure.

Favourite Doors song is Riders On The Storm.

Now, if you'd asked for second favourite I'd have been in trouble...

Maybe when this thread starts to slow down someone could tally up all the results. Not me, obviously.

    I really don't know which is #1....honestly

Coincidentally, whichever is 1st is likely also my all-time favorite song.

They are decent songs, but I'm not as big a fan of them as the selections I included.

"Yes, the River Knows." One of Krieger's most beautiful melodies with intricate chord progressions and good lyrics. One of Morrison's finest vocal performances and the other 3 show their impeccable jazz chops on the instrumental break.
