No, of course not. They've only put a sampling of the tracks in the debut box set and then on vinyl, but missing a track and then another sampling of tracks on an LP-only release. Nah, they aren't milking this.
Finally you've come to your senses and admitted the way the doors camp does business! Little do they realize their key market for archival releases knows exactly what they are trying to pull.
Doors Inc. could sell a million slippers and it would still be laughable. It is not all about sales. Tom Parker sold plenty of Elvis product, and it wasn't always a good thing. Food for thought.
Especially such a product for a single album. Doors slippers, fine, not the great travesty some would have it seem. The Doors' 1970 Morrison Hotel album represented on a pair of bedroom kicks? Weird.
well, that kind of products goes to far than sell t-shirts and hype stickers. what's next? Doors sex toys? doors logo umbrellas? Red Bull's The Doors limited edition? but, i'm really amazed about the amount of London Fog sets sold (fat box, Rsd 10 and cd); That is an achievement
Funny how Billboard or soundscan weren't told of those 40,000 sales. JJ wants his marketing skill kept secret.
Just a matter of time till we see the Light My Fire barbecue. Order online at the band's official website, or pick one up yourself at your nearest Walmart!
In the meantime, enjoy Five To One lager! Band approved brew, best served cold in this Indian summer!
Sheesh, guys. Stop giving them ideas! Anyway, Yeah...the band were at one point counter culture icons. Sure, their dearly departed singer would have probably freaked out and gotten physically violent over the crass selling out of the band and it's image/music. However, it's 2020! Get with the times! These days, it's about selling onesies, sneakers, toiler paper featuring the band's logo & singers likeness, etc. All that junk, I mean quality merchandise is where the money's at, not physical product of 50+ year old concert recordings. Make that money, Doors.inc, make that money. /S
John is really the idealistic purist isn't he? Won't allow the band to license their music for commercial purposes, sues Ray and Robby for using the band's name associated with playing music, but then readily agrees to license the band's name for countless commercial merchandising products.
'The Doors' has been a brand and nothing else for a long time now. They only care about product and profit. Sometimes the product is music related, sometimes it isn't. Those who got into them when they stood for and represented music, poetry, philosophy, etc., and those who got into them when they still had that image about them now may have a hard time letting go of their idea of what The Doors are, but it's about time to wake up and smell the coffee, really. Most everything they produce these days is either lame or crumbs presented in a way that shows, not only their contempt for fans, but also the lack of respect they have for their own work. Blunders here or there is one thing, but the way this organization operates now has been going on for so long that it's obvious their decisions are conscious decisions. It's the way they want it. That's why they stink more and more every year and no amount of remasters, MQAs and Plangents can cover the stench.
I’m not amazed by any of it. They made their money back on the Fog purchase and everything else going forward is cream cheese. They don’t do anything different than any other major band does. Some things are different sure but the basic model is expanding the product. Music, apparel, etc and they’re doing that very well.
And they keep selling a boat load of records year after year. The Doors are a brand. A big one just like a lot of other major bands. We’re in a different world now. 1960-70’s are over, like it or not.
What about the Matrix/Bakersfield/Seattle/SD outtakes tape acquisitions? Why aren't they purchasing other unheard soundboard tapes? BTW, has anyone ever seen anyone wearing Doors clothing out in public in the past 15 years? Saw lots in the 90's, them nothing.
Yeah, sleeping masks, slippers, skateboards, etc. are really lucrative, especially when the 2 remaining principals each receive 1/3 of 50% of the net. The real money for legacy artists is in publishing, and Densmore has forced Doors Inc. to leave countless millions on the table four to his unwillingness to license music.
really aren't you amazed for the Fog? man, is the best seller Doors album of the 21st century! apparently you've not following the band in those years. c'mon.
