Yeah, a really cool dude. The show was Todd Rundgren with the Chicago Symphonetta at the horrible, horrible House of Blues (worst venue in Chicago.)

Yeah, apparently he's in town for some synthesizer festival in Schaumburg.

Cool, I was wondering what he was doing in Chicago.
He works and tours with a lot of stellar musicians. We usually visit when he comes through town here (Portland). Always a blast to see him. We're both originally from N.J., I've been out west about 25 years now. I'll have to drop him a line and say hello, it's been a little while . . . Nice that you guys met.

I'd been down on the floor but came up right behind the soundboard and he recognized the shirt. He's huge Todd fan.

I found the link for the synthesizer festival in Schaumburg:

Flo and Eddie had a bit on their album Illegal, Immoral and Fattening about this song.

Seems like all inflammatory or disparaging comments from Dweezil to the ZFT have been removed from his website and social media. I can only speculate, but it seems like the "reconciliation" was more like Dweezil signing a non-disclosure agreement to stop fighting. The hologram tour still seems to have legs, and Dweezil is mentioned nowhere, so I can only guess that privately he feels the same, but publicly he can't say a thing.

I have mixed feeling about the whole affair, but mostly I think back to the picture of Dweezil and Ahmet, announcing the first ZPZ tour, which Ahmet was supposed to be a part of. Two brothers celebrating their fathers music. If only that had panned out, perhaps we would have a very different united Zappa touring show.

Shame that it takes an army of lawyers to resolve this internecine tension, if in fact it's been resolved. As for the tour, I'm still unclear as to what Ahmet would've brought to it. I've never seen evidence that he has any talent (musical or otherwise) at all.

I remember Frank's dad made an appearance on a morning news show somewhere between 1971 -1978.

Less likely that it was on one of those national 'Today'-type shows, more likely it was on a Los Angeles-based one, such as A.M. Los Angeles.

It was on in the background, but I do remember his dad at the end of the interview saying something to the effect of Everybody thinks my son is yada yada yada, but remember...I'MMMM Zappa!

As he said I'MMMM, he held his bent elbow across his chest with his fist and thumb in the hitchhiker mode, and was turning and shaking it at the wrist while pointing it at himself, as one would typically do.

Everyone cracked up on the set, including me at home, as I thought it was a good-natured/fun-type, totally jokey, fake statement.

I wouldn't mind seeing that again for closer scrutiny and possible re-evaluation!

    This is the sleaziest part:

Dweezil also was paid more than $100,000 in 2007-15.

Ok, let's see if I can still do math:

If we're talking 2007 to 2015 inclusive, that's 9 years. $100,000 over 9 years works out is it just a bit over $11,111 per year. For the only member of the family who is actually performing Frank's music.

Well, we'd have to see what everyone else made if anything in those years before one can say what is fair.
