My wife LOVES Donna’s wail plus PITB is her all-time favorite Grateful Dead song. She even loves the 15 to 20 minute versions. She still struggles a bit with the 25 or 30 minute versions but she loved the 31 minute version on Dave’s 11.
Finished off the 10/20/68 show from 30 Trips earlier, that was a really good Dark Star, seemed like the set really got going right about then and was smoking all the way up to Caution and wrapped with a beautiful Feedback. Taking a little break from 30 Trips to giving another listen to 6/16/76 from Dave’s 18th and bonus disc.
Thanks! Ordered. And saw that the GD Movie is available on Blu-ray so I ordered that as well. I have the dvd box but are there other videos available on Blu-ray now?
Only the GD movie and Veneta '72 iirc. I don't know if they have anything else shot on film in the vault? Hollywood festival England 1970 but the crew was dosed and couldn't really do their job, would be a cool release anyway Beat club and Köbenhavn '72 is only on video. Festival Express 1970 was shot on film and is available on blu-ray. I think there's three songs plus a lot of off stage clips. Definitely worth having!

Best Eyes post coma. End of story. Its unbelievable. Speaking of Eyes, 10 29 77 IS FRICKIN TROPIC ISLAND PARADISE!!! I though 9 18 and 9 21 74 were chill, but this is just otherworldly. Im in South Carolina in the mountains but i could swear im laying on golden sands with a fruity drink in one hand and a bottle of sunscreen in the other. WOW
So I just sampled the 10/29/77 Eyes earlier. Doing the full monty now and this show is a blast! THIS LOSER IS FREAKING INCREDIBLE!!! Wow!!! This song is always great but can sometimes kind of drag. Not this one! This one is explosive like a cannonball shooting off a pirate ship! MUST HEAR THIS LOSER! MANDATORY LOSER!
Ramble On Rose is blowing my mind. I always enjoy ROR just fine, but for such an "ordinary" tune, it's hard to find versions that go above and beyond. THIS RAMBLE ON ROSE IS THE QUEEN OF ALL ROSES!!!! So much energy! So much X Factor! It's like a totally different song tonight - what the hell!?
Listened to part of the first set of Keith's first show-10/19/71- last night via the latest CM upgrade. Jerry really hot and it's impressive how easily Keith fits in. Worth a listen.
Got an .epub version of Fare Thee Well (the book) and have been slowly reading it while waiting for downloads to finish, etc Very interesting for because I know next to nothing about the post-Jerry stuff other than the fact that there were Furthur Festivals and that Ratdog existed, etc.
I had the book on hold at the library but decide to cancel the hold after reading one or two reviews. Maybe one of these days I will glance at it.
Play unfortunately. We're going through applications for new companies like crack addicts but we've yet to strike the vein yet. It's a numbers game - just gotta keep pluggin away and something will happen! It's a bummer but that's life.
Yea, it is giving a little bit of a tabloid-ey vibe, but it's a case of "better than nothing" for me so far. It's very "detached" like Barry Mile's Zappa biography, if that makes sense.
Wow. Just got curious and checked out Bobby's family. Got some good genes runnin' in them that's fer sure!
Take advantage of this free time. Enjoy some RnR because you may soon find yourself an embarrassment of riches.
