It's visceral and it's exactly what this band was all about. Do whatever the hell you want and we'll discuss consequences later if needed. But we probably won't.
Sounds like a mob racket. IIRC, Real Gone Music's prices generally aren't that high; the Dick's Picks go for the highest prices in their catalogue. I'd guess that it's because the Dead demand high licensing fees, which gets passed along to the faithful Deadheads. I'd rather that the Dead kept the series in print at prices that are friendly to their fans who are already splashing out a lot of money to collect tens-to-hundreds of multi-disc sets. I don't think that's a lot to ask.
Thanks to anyone who helped with suggestions! I think it's come down to these two. Now I just have to figure out if it's really worth it and how much better the phono amp sounds compared to the one I have in Marantz 7012 I just bought a power amp to give my fronts a bit more kick so I don't really need to spend anymore hard earned cash right now... right!?
Bear said he designed the WOS to "raise the level of bossness." It is logical, therefore, to apply the same philosophy to your playback system. Kirk: "Thank you Mr. Spock."
Re: Cleveland. You forgot to mention the part where you find yourself traveling the seas with a pod of Orcas. 19:40 to 21:10.
I may have came across harsher than intended, and I'm no Real Gone apologist. But it seems they found their niche. As much as we wish GD/Rhino would keep these things in print, it's clear they're not going to. Maybe I'm just pragmatic. Makes more sense to accept what we do have than complain about what we don't. That said, the 4-6 disc sets are definitely pricey. I bought a few of the higher numbered DPs from RG when they first started issuing them. I was able to find some deals so a 4-CD set was more along the lines of $40-45, but considering that some of those releases were going for double or more of that on the secondary market, I considered it a bargain.
Forgive me, I couldn't quickly find the original quote here - is the the December '73 Cleveland show?
Yes. December 6, 1973. There's a new, pitch corrected version that sounds swell that's making the rounds on the trackers.
Movie soundtrack 1974 October The new power amp XTZ EDGE A2-300 is set up. I now can play the music louder than before and it's sounds more clear. So far so good.
Heads up, I’ve upgraded to Amazons new hi res streaming service and both July 78 and Spring 90 TOO are available in 24/192
That sequence is what convinced me of 1972’s greatness. For no apparent reason, my tape trading days did not send any 72 my way. I honestly never listened to the E72 album much and still don’t love the jams separated from the intervening songs. I finally went through all the Dicks Picks in order and was completely blown away by this one. I put it on my phone, so it will get some air time in the next week or so. That Other One gets pretty frightening at times, if my memory is correct.
