Now we're talking. TOO's peaked from '69-'72, but one I'll throw in is 10-27-79. After an otherworldly 45+ minute run of Dancin'>Franklin's>He's Gone to open the second set, we get not one, not two, but three of what I call the greatest intro in rock music, Phil's thundering TOO intro. It's a short one at 8+ minutes, but it packs a punch.
Thanks! A timed edition is a great way to do it. I wonder how different the giclee will be from the first edition print. It’s half the cost but not sure how much of that is related to quality vs. it being a larger-scale release.
The Uncle John's Band from 19 October 1974 is the first tune on the GD Movie Bonus Disc. Apparently they were going to use that to start off the movie, then came up with the cartoon. It's a mind boggling performance, with great cinematography, and Nikki Scully dancing beautifully on the edge of the stage. A peak moment in GD history. 25 March 1985- IWT. So was @Archtop and iirc @Bill Cormier was also in attendance.
Which was performed/recorded on the same day this was released: Imagine living in Columbus OH on that day. Listening to Meddle for the first time and then wandering down to THE Ohio Theater to have your constellations rearranged. That would be quite a day. I was 12. I'm pretty sure I TP'd someone's house that evening.
Listening to Garcia/Saunders tonight, but I'm also happy because I managed to score a (fairly) reasonably priced copy of DP31 off of eBay. In my 4-5 months of listening, 8/6/74 has emerged as my favorite show so far. I already have the Charlie Miller matrix of that show, but I've also been wanting #31 for the other material.
5/13/83 I have listed as the second most important recording in history, but I tend to over-sell it. Truth, though. Get Rango's tapes.
