I have to drive about an hour but I've never been to one of these (or seen The Dead or any incarnation of them live), so I'm doing it.

it will be worth it. Lot of fun to be in the theatre, plus this is Europe 72 footage, so that can't be beat. Where do you live ?

Completely forgot to listen to 9/21/72 the other day during my walk. Listened to Yes instead. But, rectified that situation earlier and man, I love this show. First, the sound is fantastic - crystal clear with some perfect left/right separation between Bob and Jerry, with Billy and Phil laying right in the middle. Too much awesomeness to talk about but one thing to mention is how fantastic Billy is during PITB, just astonishingly tight and inventive, with some great jazz flourishes. Killer, killer version.

It looks like the closest one to me is about 100 miles away. I’m strongly considering it, but boy, I wish there was one closer.

Repor... actually, now that I think of it, that doesn't sound too bad, either.

I've been out of Dead world and into jazz world for the past couple weeks, but the Amazon man brought these goods today so I punched my ticket for a Friday night ride. Sounds mighty fine thus far...

Yikes. That artwork is atrocious. I'd seen it before, but I didn't really see it. Now I can't unsee it. That's downright ghastly.

I remember a few others I liked less than the MSG 81 cover. Dozin' and Go To Nassau were pretty boring for instance. And the Fillmore 2/11/69 double CD.

Eastern Ontario. I'll be going to Peterborough probably for the Saturday show. Kingston only has the 1st playing.

That is the absolute worst Dead art of all. Just awful. Love the new MSG art a lot though, really captures the acid vibe.

We cross to a story developing …

Coming to you live this morning from Palace Theatre, Waterbury, CT, 24/09/72, the scene of the outstandingly devilish Dark > China > Rider.

Last spotted stealing faces and melting minds, before taking off never to be seen again.

Eyewitness reports from the theatre observed a transition that … “raised the hairs on the back of your neck,” “Oh my God, what the hell was that?!” and, “I felt giddy with excitement when I realised where it was heading.”

From all accounts, it seems yet another incredible moment from September 1972.

I’m SJR for GD Daily News, where “there’s nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile”

I don't mind the artwork for the MSG '81-'83 release. It has a little Brian Blomerth vibe, although obviously nowhere near his level of insanity. He's the best.

Just finished up with this badass. What a powerful performance from beginning to end, all killer, no filler except maybe Lovelight that dragged on a bit. Dark Star is a true beauty, although my favorite segment of the show might be Alligator > Drums > Jam (with And We Bid You Goodnight jams) > Doin' That Rag -- man that's great. Viola Lee Blues > Feedback to close things out, damn. Unreal.
