I really dig the 10/22 portion of this release. Keith is high in the mix, great high energy show overall and a nasty Other One. Also don’t think I’ve ever heard Deal come so smoothly out of something like it does from Cryptical here. Top-notch fall ‘71.

I stumbled upon a secondary meaning of transitive that's made me rethink the lyrics of Dark Star a bit.

    "... transitive nightfall of diamonds":

Transitive can mean the relationship between succesive things in sequence, such as "if A is larger than B, B is larger than C, and so on." It sounds fractal to me.

I always took transitive in the grammatical sense, describing certain qualities of verbs, and so the image never really made sense to me. I always took as something that sounded "trippy" but never made logical sense. This math-logic context makes the image much clearer to me.

The story about him writing the lyrics listening to them play it makes it even better. Sounds pretty accurate to me.

Another in the series of "this should be an official release" shows from March 1973. The first set, as is common in this era, features fine versions of China > Rider and Playing In The Band. Yet as always the Goods are in set 2, this little musical sequence for example:

He's Gone > Truckin' > Weather Report Suite Prelude > Jam > Wharf Rat > Me And Bobby McGee > Eyes Of The World > Morning Dew

Like I told you, what I said, this should be an official release.

What's top? I would hope that 09/20/70's version is right up there?

Back on the Brentathon. Today is '85 day, starting with 1985/06/30 Columbia, MD. They really sound lively in these recordings. It's a shame there isn't much officially released, I'd like to hear these SBDs cleaned up, though they sound just fine overall.
Wowweee this Shakedown is fu-u-u-u-uuuunky. A really cool That's It For The Other One, with Cryptical and everything, with Drums>Space as the 'drums' segment before TOO, really cool! I'm a big fan of what I've heard from '85, I will surely be doing some more exploring in this era ('84/'85/'86 in general I guess?) in the near future.

They really need to release those two nights as a combo set. I'm kinda surprised that they haven't been released already.

This show was a real surprise for me. Adventurous and dense. Bruce/Vince could lead to cacophony, but not here. Also, if Jerry was in decline in '92, then he was hiding it pretty well here.

Nice stretch here that really picks up after the meltdown in The Other One. There are a bazillion photos of this show here!

I'm really surprised at just how little from 1985 has been released. 1985 was generally considered to be one of the better years in the 1980s and David L. is clearly an '80's guy.
