Looking forward to this based on the trailer as well. Paul Giamatti was excellent in John Adams.

I saw this today, I think it was a special early showing. I'm in Massachusetts, and I guess much of it was filmed here (I was not aware of that walking in)
    Fantastic film.

Predictable, but still fun. Too long. The writing/dialogue is top rate, many belly laughs. Hope it kinds an audience. Paul G could do this stuff in his sleep

I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I saw the trailer before Haunting in Venice and I loooved it! I laughed so hard when they froze Paul's face and added the title. So 70's!!! :D

Promise delivered. Saw it last night. Paul Giamatti was excellent as usual. Will be adding this to my annual Christmas movie rotation along with A Christmas Story.

One of the best comedy/dramas of my lifetime.

Sadly, it’s leaving many theaters on Monday. I would like to catch it on the big screen a few more times. Hopefully, the awards season will give it more weeks in theaters. A shoe-in for a Best Picture nomination.

Absolutely fantastic movie. Just perfect in every way. Deserves to win at least a few Oscars.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, it only starts at the end of January around here, which seems stupid, given the Christmas theme in it.

Why do they do that? I was intentionally waiting until closer to Christmas to see it, but will make a point to see it this weekend (assuming it is still playing). It isn't even playing in a theater near me, so I'll have to make a little trip.

EDIT: Just checked and the theaters that have it around here show Thursday as the last day it is showing. Unless they add more. I've seem rumors this may end up on streaming before Christmas, which may explain it to a point.

And most of the people I made recommendations to didn’t even know the movie was released. They assumed it had a December release date.

Hopefully, the movie sees a streaming release this holiday season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the movie won Best Picture. It’s that perfect.

How stupid….this isn’t getting a UK release until 24 January 2024, and it’s obvious from the trailer I saw in the movie theatre today that it’s (at least in part) a Christmas movie.

I definitely think it should. Whether it does, I don’t know. Obviously depends on how much the studio invests in a campaign. The fact that it seems to be leaving the theaters so quickly isn’t encouraging. Hopefully there’ll be some positive word of mouth that helps give it some legs.

Hopefully, over time it becomes a Christmas classics like A Christmas Story became, which also fell flat at the box office.

Apparently, due to demand, theaters are bringing back the movie. And I see screenings popping up in my local theaters for this/next week that weren’t there yesterday.

Finally got to see it tonight. So glad it was held over. The theater I saw it in was packed, with a line waiting to get in for the next viewing as I left. Glad to see word of mouth must be getting around.

Clearly, you have all seen a different movie than I did this evening.

Interminable. Written by someone with no ear for dialogue, and directed by someone with no sense of pacing or rhythm.

    Bleah...!

In that case, make sure to skip Sideways.

I saw the trailer in a London cinema, probably the same day as you, and assumed the film would be out in the next few weeks. It seems like UK distributors have a policy of holding back awards contenders until that weird post-Christmas period in the hope that they will be uppermost in UK voters’ minds. For actual film fans it’s incredibly annoying, but I don’t think film fans count in awards season.

Sideways is one of my all-time favorites. Giamatti wasn't even nominated for an Oscar. Unbelievable.
