For those of you who care, these are the Hollies compilation CD's that I really dig; stereo original mixes or mono original mixes, no noise reduction or drastic EQ changes, no compression or futzing of the stereo image and MOST IMPORTANTLY: All original 1960's Abbey Road EMI Studio analog mixes, NO REMIXING...

    BRITISH IMPORT CD's:

THE HOLLIES: 20 Golden Greats. EMI CDP 7 46238 2
    Came out around 1986..

THE HOLLIES: All The Hits And More EMI CDS 7908502 (2 disk set)
    Came out around 1988..

THE HOLLIES: Not The Hits Again! See For Miles SEE CD 63
Came out in 1987.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It contains the stereo SO LONELY and some great tracks that have the Hollies "sound".

THE HOLLIES: The EP Collection See For Miles SEE CD 94
Came out around 1987.. Contains the ESSENTIAL mono hit mixes of I CAN'T LET GO, LOOK THROUGH ANY WINDOW, JUST ONE LOOK, HERE I GO AGAIN, I'M ALIVE and SO LONELY, etc.

    USA CD:

THE HOLLIES- Epic Anthology-From The Original Master Tapes. Epic EGK 46161
Came out right before the NO NOISE maximized era began; 1990. Contains the later stuff..

    Hope this helps..

I have the EMI and Epic sets but do not have the See For Miles discs. I'll have to start watching for the other 2.

I was looking at the "Not The Hits Again" on Amazon - easier on the budget than the 30th Ann 3 cd set and NOT remixed. Thanks, Steve!

I'm tired of typing. :) If someone feels like it and posts the track listing of each CD I can annotate which are mono, stereo, etc..

Wrong, buddy. It should start with HERE I GO AGAIN.

You're looking at something other than what I listed or they have it wrong..

Thanks for ALL of your help! I don't need to tell you guys how great it is to discover some great music that's been "under your nose" all along. Even though I'm the right age to have been listening to them, the only Hollies songs I've ever heard are the radio hits here in the USA and my recently acquired GH cd. Judging from the song samples on the 2 Amazon sites, I'm in for a fun ride checking out thier back catalog.

I have the EP Collection, although I never listen to it. The only song I see listed in stereo is "Watcha Gonna Do 'Bout it"

This has the later Epic stuff. The earlier stuff in the US was on Imperial, IIRC. Odd, though, because in the 70's Epic put out a comp on LP that had the Imperial stuff.

Yeah, didn't Epic put out the "Greatest Hits" comp back in the late 60s? It had Imperial stuff on it...like Carrie-Anne, Bus Stop, etc. Y'know...the cover with the numbers by each picture corresponding to a song.

That actually came out on CD, so I'm not sure what the issue is. It must be a licensing issue of some sort.

That comp came out on LP in 1973. It was reissued twice - once on the 1980's CD, the second time on the current Legacy remaster containing the bonus track "The Air That I Breathe." Unfortunately, many of the songs on that comp are sourced from futzed-with tapes (read: dupe tapes with added reverb, compression).

On the Epic Anthology comp, all of the songs are in stereo except "Do The Best You Can," which apparently has never been mixed into stereo. I've also corrected the Track 7 song listing. And the stereo "Everything Is Sunshine" may have seen a legitimate release in Germany prior to this CD comp (despite the liner notes). And though "Try It" never came out in stereo in North America prior to this comp, it was in stereo on the Parlophone UK Butterfly LP (PCS 7039, 1967).

This is the only Hollies comp I have...so I have love for it! I have the vinyl version, listening to it now...sounds all right. I'm sure the original UK versions sound better.
