What I found disturbing about this release is that the guy who had the tapes for all those years is listed as a co-songwriter with Marriott. Steve was long gone by the time it came out, so we'll have to take his word for it....

Also, according to the notes in the "Hot N' Nasty" compilation, the recording of the track of the song "Street Rats" started as a cover of "Paperback Writer."

I saw them on that tour at MSG in May, 1973. Black Oak Arkansas opened. They had the giant inflated women on either side of the stage when they performed their cover of "Honk Tonk Women". Really good show.

Saw them back in '73 with opening acts Montrose and Spooky Tooth. Great show, although it was without Frampton.

Their Fillmore show setlists didn't vary much if you listen to the "Complete Fillmore Recordings" 3 or 4 CD set. I highly recommend it, you get more great Marriot lines to open some of the songs too.

Did they borrow them from the Stones?

I saw that tour in Boston, and still have my ticket stub. I never heard of Sammy Hagar.

When I saw them they closed the show with that song. No inflated women but what a great job they did on the song. Steve Marriott was one of the all time great frontmen.

Same with me. I was blown away by how good Montrose was. Still have my stub too.

My first rock concert, Humble Pie, opening act was Black Oak Arkansas, Madison Square Garden NYC 1973.
    Excellent show, Black Oak rocked.
Here’s my ticket stub I managed to save.

I still hope that they've got one more Frampton Era show left in the vaults to release to fans.

They probably did. That's the thought that ran through my mind when I saw them at the show. I doubt that there were two sets like that.

This John Peel show from 1970 has been bootlegged. I am not sure if they have it in their vault or not.

Recorded Sept. 20, 1970. I've had this on CD since the 1990s. I had no idea until now it was a bootleg. I assumed it was just an import release from an indie label.

I think I bought it in a long-defunct record store called CD Warehuse, which was more like a hole in the wall than a warehouse. Maybe that should have been my tip off... All that said, it's pretty good, so I'm glad someone got it out. I bought Scrubbers around the same time and prefer this to that.

IMO the greatest stuff they have in the vaults are all the studio outtakes, demos etc. I don't know how many/what they are going to release but hearing Steve signing different words (making it up as he goes?) for songs like Strange Days (from Rock On - probably my fave Pie song btw) is quite awesome IMO. They need to put that stuff out there for us Pie crazies to get off on.

That's great, I have it! I did not know it was from Japan though (as said on discogs). Nothing on mine to indicate the country of origin but they do go to lengths to make it look like some kind of official promo release.

The titles on the CD itself differ from the back cover and are kind of funny, shorthand abbreviations for the actual songs:

    1. Creep
    2. Ready
    3. With Me
    4. Fever
    5. Hallelujah
    6. Walk On
    7. The Sad
    8. One Eyed
    9. Dog

The excellent documentary The Life And Times Of Steve Marriott is now streaming free on Amazon Prime video. As noted earlier in this thread it's also available on blu-ray for purchase.
Pretty good film and it's nice to see lots of Small Faces and Humble Pie clips all in one package.

Listening to the wonderful 2 disc Hot N' Nasty Anthology now.
Only complaint is that the vocal intros to the Fillmore tracks are cut out.

    Good thread!

Question: Has anyone here bought the recent Replay vinyl reissue of Town & Country? It's this one,

Humble Pie - Town And Country

Would love to know thoughts on sound & pressing quality - also, does anyone have any detail on its source? It looks suspiciously grey-market to me, but IS available at a very good price.
