I'm not sure there were 4 but their are other Harry Palmer movies. I don't know the order but I think The Icpress File is the best of them all. The Billion Dollar Brain is kinda stupid but has a few good moments. Funeral in Berlin is better than Billion Dollar Brain and it has the beautiful Eva Renzi.

  5. Great Soundtrack by John Barry, too.

There were three Harry Palmer movies starring Michael Caine: this one, Funeral in Berlin and Billion Dollar Brain. Funeral in Berlin is my favorite of the three.

There were two others starring Michael Caine which were made-for-television:
    Bullet to Beijing
    &
    Midnight in Saint Petersburg

Much inferior to the original novel, but then we get Michael Caine.

Saw it in the theater when it came out. Electrifying. Made a star out of Michael Caine. Also made metal machine music possible.

    Thought it was Alfie?
Even John Wayne was aware of Alfie.

What were the dates on these films release? IMDB says Ipcress File was 65 while Alfie was 66.

From IMDB: Zulu (1964), the epic retelling of a historic 19th-century battle in South Africa between British soldiers and Zulu warriors, brought Caine to international attention. Instead of being typecast as a low-ranking Cockney soldier, he played a snobbish, aristocratic officer. Although "Zulu" was a major success, it was the role of Harry Palmer in The Ipcress File (1965) and the title role in Alfie (1966) that made Caine a star of the first magnitude.

Mr Bass often maligned but mostly right.

I have the Network 2014 BD and the film looks OK'ish, but nothing impressive. There's plenty of extra stuff on that disc though.
It is shot in Techniscope, so I assume not much can be done when it comes to transfer. But as I understood it is not undergoing restoration, they will use the source from ITV.

So the 202o version will just be padded out with extra stuff?
